Powdercoat

How would I go about powder coating my lugs? Is it something that I can easily do at home, or do I have to have them done professionally?
And will the powder coat withstand the wear and tear from the lug wrench?

why, just buy some aftermarket ones that are already colored

but for powdercoating i would say they have to be professionally done

powder coating costs money too and not really doable at home, so would have to have a pro do it

... it's gonna flake off when you bolt them back on. like everyone else said, buy an already colored set. or if they're aluminum, maybe anodize them?

basically all factory lug nuts are steel (there are exceptions to sports car and such), so if he had aluminuim, he would already have aftermarket lug nuts

x2, plus throw in a little chrome plating, with how the part is electrically charged during the process

they do that with normal painting on cars too, it is called a paint booth to help cure it, doesn't get quite as hot as a oven, but it can still hit 150 F degrees or so (not quite sure on how hot it exactly gets though, so kinda an educated guesstimate)

So would they hold up if I were to paint, and bake at a high temp?

Powder coating requires that the part be electrostatically charged so the powder will "stick" to it until the baking process. We usually heat the parts to 450 degrees F so the powder will cure properly.

That's PC in 30 sec or less, it can't be done at home.....
