Possible Tranny problem??

This morning as I was driving in to work, my car would jerk occasionally.. and it seems like I had to push the pedel more to keep the speed ( kinda like having the parking brakes on.) Well.. As for the jerking.. I hope its not the tranny going out... Just wondering for those who had the tranny go out.. what were the first symptoms? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Mine literally died in a matter of minutes. It started out like that one morning and just got worse within 1/2 hour or less. I found the car wasnt able to shift out of 3rd at first and then as the problem got worse it wouldn't shift out of 1st. Then all my dash lights came on!!

It was weird because the night before the car was normal!!

Hope that helps!

Hangman,

This is exactly what my car has been doing intermittently for the last 4 or 5 months. I can never reproduce it for a mechanic, because it is so intermittent. Over the course of a week it may happen3 times...or not at all. It happens mostly when the car has just reached operating temp...but it has happened when running for 2 hours, or just 3 minutes.

Mine just did it for the first time this morning.. while I was driving to work ( approx 30 minutes ) it happened about 7 times. It feels kinda like bad gass.. but I have only been filling it up at 1 Shell gas station and the gas has always been good. Well.. hopefully its just bad gas.. but reading about all the tranny problems really concerns me.

Well guys, the TL is being towed in the morning...thought I was not going to make it home from work tonight. The transmission kicked back more than half a dozen times. I am afraid to drive it to the dealer (almost 60 miles away)...I hate that this is happening :^( I talked to one of the service guys and he alone has replaced 4 transmissions in TLs in recent months...and it is about a 30 day wait. If the transmission needs replacing, I'm getting rid of it.

Apparently, Acura's first line of defense in resolving this issue is to flush the transmission...which they did. The Service Manager said if I experience the same problem, to bring it back and they will replace it. I picked it up on Saturday, and so far, it seems fine.

I posted my VIN on the other thread...but, it is 4654.

Update on my tranny,

After that drive to work last Tuesday when the car jerked, I drove home that evening and there was no more jerking. I noticed the tank was near empty so I filled it up again. Continued to drive to and from work for the next two days. No more jerking. Brought it into the dealer on Friday ( appointment time) and went to test drove it with the sevice manager.. Could no reproduced the jerking. Somehow.. it only jerked that Tuesday morning and never came back after that. I talked to the service manager and he siad I might have had some bad/dirty gas. Well.. its been about another 400 hundred miles since last Tuesday and the car seems fine. Guess ( I hope) that it was just bad gas since all the symptoms are gone and never came back. I've been driving it pretty hard since the jerking to try and reproduce it but it runs normal now. Guess nothing was wrong with the car (hopefully).
BTW my VIN # is 041981
