Post Playing with a GTech Pro

I played with my GTech Pro for the first time today. I ran 0-60 times in the 6.9-7.1 range and 1/4 mile times in the 15.3 range at 95-96 mph.

Does that sound about right for a 1999 TL with a full tank of gas and a 240 pound driver? I thought it might be a bit quicker than that with the mods listed below, but maybe not.

1999 Acura 3.2TL
Black w/ Ebony
Bridgestone Potenza RE730
size: 225/55ZR-16 on stock rims
Comptech Headers
Comptech Exhaust (but thinking about switching to Mugen)
AEM Cold Air Intake and Bi-Pass Valve
Comptech Sport Springs
Swaybars (on the way)

Next try your runs with less than a 1/4 tank of gas. You probably see at least .05+ gains in your times. Don't forget to remove your spare too. I did some runs with a full tank and again with a 1/2 tank and my times were consistently .1 seconds better. There are so many variables involved that I stated .05 to be on the safe side as ymmv.

i got 6.7-6.8 seconds for 0-60 with my bone stock 2000 TL. my quater mile time is similar to yours although slightly slower. weight certainly slows you down, but shouldnt make that much difference. make sure your Gtech pro is positioned perfectly horizontal and aligned to the long axis of your car.

weight reduction certainly helped my times. I'll make more gtech runs next weekend and my car will be ~130 lighter [no spare, very little gas in the tank. Occupant has plenty!! ]. I'll post my times and Ronnie0738's too. He has headers and should have a custom CAI by then. So far his best time is 6.38 and mine is 6.52

check out this thread.

Boston, a gtech is a accelerometer. It measures acceleration, hp and G forces.

IMO = in my opinion
IMHO = in my humble opinion

Rule of thumb is -.1 sec in 1/4 for every 100 pounds reduced (or about 10 HP)

Question

Is a STOCK 2000 TL quicker than a STOCK 1999 TL? If yes, then what changes were made?

Anyone?

i absolutely agree that weight is important. i thought Titan's TL is 2000. now i know it's 1999, that explains why his modified 99 TL is about as quick as my stock 2000.
the 2000 TL is about .5 seconds faster than its 1999 counterpart.

The 2000 is quicker because of the 5 speed tranny. I'm not sure if the torque curve changed from 1999 to 2000+ in the low rpm range or if it's attributed to the gear ratios.

Actually, the intake manifold also changed to a free flowing one...along with some other intake modifications in addition to the tranny shifting to a 5-speed one....even though the peak hp and torque remained the same as the 99, the modifications in the '00 increased low-end torque and also mid-range power...the 5-speed tranny also improved mileage from the 27 mpg hwy to 29 mpg hwy...

Thanks. I was unsure about whether there was increased power and if so, how it was achieved.
