Plastidip on b-pillars... Thoughts?

Hi,

I was wondering about using plastidip to cover our faded b-pillars.

What are your thoughts?

Here is an impala with them done:

It's been done on ours. I'm hoping to do it myself in the coming months.

Just make sure they're smooth before applying. I've seen what it looks like without...not pretty.

Not sure it would look good with the trim around windows being gloss. I would just sand them down and spray them gloss

I sanded mine down and ten painted them a flat black years ago. I don't understand why it did it to my car because I keep it garaged most of the time. Back when my parents had the car it was in the garage and when they would take it to work it was parked Ina parking garage. I'll try and get some pictures posted up when I get to a computer

Very good point with the trim - at least with plastidip removing it wont be a problem.

To add gloss, they also seem to make a gloss product now:

The paint on mine has almost completely fallen off now.

That looks perfect!
How easy was it? What did you do to prep? - did you sand off the remaining paint?
Was removing the over spray easy?

They look great from your build thread!

So you didn't even sand off the remaining paint on the pillar?
Just wash and spray and it evens itself out over the old paint?

my pillars weren't peeling or anything, but they were oxidized and showed white.

i didn't sand anything. i did exactly what i told you.

washed the pillars
taped off crap i didn't want dipped and sprayed.

the over spray is easy to remove, just rubs off/peel off

There is no need to sand for plasti dip. (hence why people plastidip their cars and wheels. They can peel it off and have the original surface un-touched) Its not designed as a permanent material like paint

Yes very easy to use. Just make sure the surface is smooth or it will show.
