Plastic thing under front of car

Mine came loose and broke, just wondering if anyone knows what the thing is for and whether I can live without it...

to me it looks like some sound baffling or air director...

tks!

Serves a couple of purposes. First it alerts you when you are grinding on too low of a slope, so maybe you won't damage something more important. Second, it serves as an air dam, and is important for proper engine/transmission cooling.
Good thing to replace if damaged.

I have a 2 inch drop and I caught mine on a big parking stop one time and it broke all the pegs that keep it held up but it didn't damage the plastic itself, I zip tied it back up, that is until it got hung on the drive way pulling into the grass for a wash and well I zip tied it back up again but a little better this time and I don't think I'll be catching it on anything anymore. Good luck!

Thanks for the offer but it's probably more trouble than it's worth...I called my local dealer and he can replace it for about $100.

I noticed that the plugs were missing out of my splash guard/air dam under the front of my car. It was loose and making noise flapping up and down.
I used a few locking ties to secure it. QUIET now.

Is it a big deal if you just remove it? Mine is hanging and was scraping on the ground the whole ride home and I don't have a place to fix it right now considering the weather suck way up here in Maine and my garage has a 5 foot snow bank in front of it.

That's what I was thinking too, but I don't think it would be that big of a deal. I'm probably going to leave mine off when I put everything back together tomorrow.

If its not too torn, you can just buy new Pop Screws/ Nylon Rivets and adjust everything back to shape

Don't use the P.O.S O.E.M ones, use these:

If you have patience, I'd recommend going oversized nylon riverts in this case...I speak from personal experience.

I just took it off today. I'll buy a new one in the spring, but for now whatever. It won't hurt anything to have it off.

I really don't know how to break it while driving...

I'm on my original here. I'd go with the junkyard though. It doesn't need to be perfect.

Easy: pulling up too far on the wrong parking stop, f-ed up speed bumps, crap such as retread on the road, angled driveway, etc.

Good call, I rarely encounter these so it never entered my mind.
