Post Pinstriping

Need some feedback on pinstriping. Does it accentuate the car or make it look cheesy. I'm thinking about doing it but want to get some opinions out there.

Can you explain what kind of pinstriping??

Do you mean along the side of the car, small strips?

Or do you mean something more like the dodge viper double stripe down the middle? hehe..

I don't like them very much if they are the small ones. My experience with them is that they have a tendency to rip off and once that happens, the rest doesn't look good and you'll have to replace it.

It also really depends on the color and how much the stripe stands out from the rest of the car.

It looks OK, my dealer threw it in for free but I probably would not pay to get it done.

I was thinking about getting the thin striping along the sides of the car. But after seeing some comments, I don't think I will. The racing stripe idea sounds kind of cool though --you may be on to something!

Don't get it this is my first car that I did not have it done. I was thinking the same thing last year when I got my Black TL. I think on this car with the chrome door handles it looks better without.

I had it done on my Silver Type S. The dealer did it for free as part of the deal for the car. Otherwise it costs $150. It looks good, on silver it is a red and black line together going from back to front on the side of the car. It looks good on silver cause it doesn't make the car too plain looking from the side. The look of it depends on what color car you have, and the color of the strips. It looks good on white also.

It came free as part of my deal, but I asked them not to put it on. The salesman said that if I change my mind, I can always come back later and still have it done for free.

After living with the car for a little over a week now, I'm glad I left the stripe off. The car looks great without it. Having had pinstripes on most cars in my past, I do like them. I guess it's just personal preference!

Decided to go without the pinstripes. The car I was originally supposed to get had them already applied and they did nothing for me.

On the WDP, they seemed to break up the body lines. However, they had a black that looked great with the tan stripes.

A couple of wise guys, eh? You'd think I had one foot in the grave by mentioning pinstripes. My '98 TL had them when I picked the car out at it looked really sharp. It was the dark blue 3.2
I have never owned a set of whitewalls in my life (gag) now get off my #@$*.

I got flamed a couple of years ago when I didn't agree with the majority that pinstripes were awful. I do agree that the wrong stripes can ruin the look of any car.

I have them and I like them. I do them myself so it's very cheap and I can change (or remove) them to suit my mood.

It's not at all difficult to do, and it's even kind of fun - just don't try to do it on a windy day! With so many silver TL's out there mine is just a little different from all the others, and the stripes are so subtle that you don't notice them unless you are a few feet from the car. Just my .02.

Just bought a TL-S about two weeks ago with pinstrips added for free. I actually thought that the stripes added some flavor to the color of my car (WDP). What's cool about it is that on each side of the front fender close to the door, they put on an Acura emblem that's placed in an area between the pinstripes. Has anyone else seen this?

I thought putting pinstripes on cars was an 80's thing? Do people still want this today?

I have had pinstripes on every car I owned BEFORE my '99 3.2TL. I thought pinstripes added nothing to the look of the car and actually detracted from the overall "clean" lines of the car. Now that I have my '02 3.2TL-S I have NO pinstripes on it. The 3.2TL/3.2TL-S is one car that I think gets absolutely NO benefit from pinstiping; it can stand on it's own very well!

I don't like them AT ALL.

Of course, I also don't like mudflaps, underbody kits, air deflectors, or (gag!) spoilers. And don't even talk to me about gold kits...

Simplify, simplify; That should be your goal!
