I don't think it's ghetto or cheesy. My dad's Lexus LS 400 has foot lighting. It comes on when you open the doors.

i guess you guys aren't Star Trek fans. I was going for the high tech backlit look like a cockpit. I just got some blacklight tubes that plug into the cig lighter power outlet and hid it away in the footwell. what good is a foot light if it only works when the door is open?

anyway, i thought you guys would think it was cool...

It is cool - I'm doing the same thing, putting some StreetGlow neon blue tubes to light the front & rear floor (controlled by a custom switch panel. Will be done next week)
