pics finally of a long time member..

Yeah this is the high mileage beast, thanks to member "darkdj" he was able to shrink this picture enough so that I could share it with you guys. I still have alot to learn about computers but feel I made alot of progress this weekend. Car is up alittle in the rear since it is completely empty including no fuel as I'm getting ready to run at the track soon hoping for a 14. whatever. You guys have posted some great pics for years so I feel alittle more with it! Thanks for letting me rant.

I just passed 200,000 in my 94 explorer, and I thought that was a lot.

fsttyns - man thats alot of miles, I was doing about 43K. But I have retired my car to the garage and use a Mercury Villager (cheap) for work now as I have to haul stuff occasionally. It's no TL but the depreciation isn't eating me up as the van is a "95. On my daily rounds the van is slow and frustrating whereas the TL was a party every minute, either the music, the power, handling, messing with other cars or whatever! This van only had 30K on it so I grabbed it>

Chuck,
Nice car man. Let us know how the track runs go. I definitely have to consider headers if you run 14s. BTW, we have a Merc. Villager and it's also a 1995 model. We live in a new subdivision and unfortunately bumped the oil filter (those long GM made ones, AC Delco lol) and the van's been leaking oil (slightly) ever since. It's a great minivan though and I remember falling in love with the huge rear yellow blinkers. What color is yours? How many miles have you put on?

Thanks very much. It's dark blue, and in the three months I've owned it have added 12K miles so it's at 42K. I met a guy who has a '93 with 230K miles on it still going strong!

No, it made it to 163K and finally died. Acura put in the new one and I put in a tranny cooler so I think that will cure that problem. DJ thanks again!!!! Change the fluid every 25K and use Honda or acura ATF.

Wow, that's really low mileage! Mine's at 150k lol and still running well. I'm gonna take it to someone soon and have them look at the oil filter area.

chuckstl,
Did you have to pay for the new Tranny at 163,000 or did acura cover it. I ask b/c I own a non type s 01 and I am at 97,500mi and I am seriously considering getting rid of my car b/c I don't want to drop upwards of 3grand for a new tranny after I pass 100,000mi. Also I am currently running amsoil ATF, no complaints or problems thus far. Anyone else running amsoil in their tranny.

Sidenote: I also run amsoil in my motor. The oil stays cleaner longer and I have better cold weather starts. If you switch, flush motor with amsoil engine flush first to get all the old oil out.

Hey Chuck, that's a beautiful TL I'm amazed you can take her for a track run at her (mileage) age. Do tell us what the result is.

Thanks guys for all the kind words. No I messed up in the rear, I've got to put the Koni's on the lower perch as I used to carry a ton of weight in the trunk for work, but have recently switched to a mini-van. The fronts are kKoni's and H&R's. When I get a warm weekend I'll do it!

Tranny- Acura only charged me $1500 for the new upgraded one and ECU @ 163K miles...all I said was "I know I have alot of miles but I thought it would last longer than this". They did it with no problems. They probably turned it in as a warrantee job. One BIG way to make it last I feel is a tranny cooler!

Yep, Capital Drag Raceway re-opens March 7th @ 12 noon for test and tune all day. Go down I-97 to Rt. 301 (merge right) go about eight miles or so until you see a Wendys and a Boston Market on the left. Get in the right lane and Capital is on the road that turns into the skating rink, go back there 500 yards. Hope to see you there. You know, we should run side to side for the heck of it!

I will try and be there. You would more than likely smoke me cuz of you mods (headers, pulleys, and CAI). Is there a price per run?

Well I really don't want to do that cuz everyone here I consider a friend, but it would be fun to see if the mods do anything and if so how much, and you would see the benefit of them and how much gain they give...one car, two cars whatever at the end of the quarter mile. I may have some loss of efficiency due to the high mileage, but I hope not. After running we can compare times and MPH and see what happens. Price is $15 to run an unlimited number of times.

Chuck, I actually would like to see the differences as well so I think I will be there. By the way did you do your mods yourself? If so would you mind helping me with mine when I get the extra money to purchase the parts, or recommend the places that you got yours done. The first thing I would like to do probably because it would be the cheapest would be sways. I want to clear out my headlights also (freebie) when it gets warmer as I don't have a garage to do the bumper and headlight removal, did you use the oven method?

Did all the mods myself except tint. I never did clear my headlights but I did darken the orange turn signal reflector with paint tint from a hobby store. I wouln't be able to help with mods time-wise, but at the track we'll get you started!

Hey Chuck, why not try and make this day at the track a MD/DC/VA meet. I think it would be a good turn out, the last meet I set up at Tyson's corner wound up to be pretty decent.

Not a bad idea, but the track collects $15 from everyone whether or not you run. We could do that or work out a meet at Tysons on a Sunday. Might need to move this to the MEETS forum to gauge interest. Would be a great meet for guys who want to run and show their rides too.
