let me know what you guys think, which one looks better: silver or black? and if you follow my signature link, there are more pics of the TLS

The GS-R I had before my TL was black. I think it's one of the nicest colors around when it's clean. That being said, it IS a ***** to keep looking good. I remember spending several hours detailing it only to find that the towel I used to dry it with left lint on the car and made it look almost dirtier than when I'd started. And EVERY bit of dust will show. 15 minutes after you wash it you'll be pissed. Finally, the any paint imperfections will be more visible on dark colors, especially when it's bright out. My Integra had some small areas of orange peel and when the sun was shining I think it was visible from space.

If you wax your black car, take care of your black car, love your black car, cherish
your black car, your black car will be good to you. But if you don't, you will have a
pretty dirty, ugly, car. If you gotta silver car, it doesn't care what you do to it. It
doesn't care when you wash it, how you wash. I mean still it looks cleaner if you do,
but it doesn't really care if you don't.
My bro has a black CLK.. If you have a black car you know that its a pain. If you
are getting a black car, make sure they don't wax it at the dealer. They don't use real
soft cloth. That's how most people get the first scratches on their car. Wax it
yourself. Don't use the electric waxer thing. Take your time, and do it yourself, with your hand. It takes longer, but it looks awful beautiful when you're done waxing it.
If i were you, i would get a dark colored car. Especially if its a TL-S. Why? Because
i got a Silver TL, and i don't stand out, ever!. I hate it. The clear corners alone on a black car would make it stand out. And when your car is clean and waxed, you are
sure that you are being looked at, and your car is being admired.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm leaning toward the silver because I don't have anything to park my car under to protect it from the elements. And there is this %&*#@$% cat that walks all over my 325i at night. And with all the pollen and crap we have floating in the air down here that cat would end up scratching every body panel on a black car.

A black car looks great for the first year because of the immense pampering you give it. Once the novelty wears off, it gets to look dirtier and dirtier as time goes on. F@$% you can never keep it clean for more than a day!
Then when you do clean it and wax it, you start swearing from all of the "scratches" than start to appear on it and the stone chips you find on the hood because of the trucks that shoot them off their tires when driving on a highway. It only gets worse the longer you own a black car!
No wonder why black cars have a poor resale value.
I went for silver this time. There are many silver cars on the road. Silver cars like BMW and Merceds are lookers because the CAR is a good looking car in itself.
P.S I speak from experience having previously owned a black 1998 Maxima SE and please reduce the size of your pictures on this post, we are not blind.

what do u mean by reduce? this is how photopoint choses to post them... they actual size is larger than this, but to get the full resolution you have to go to photopoint... and i think at this point most people have broadband so it doesnt take too long to load it... whats the point of posting thumbnails?

What I mean by reduce, is reduce the pixels of the picture. This will reduce the size of the picture.
For example, the picture in your signature is around 260x167. Whereas the picures you posted are 1280x853. Convert it to a smaller pixel size and picture size will also reduce.
Thumbnails are exactly just that. A library of pictures in your files. It is not a reflection of the pixel (or picture) size.
In comparison "Closer" and "Oblio" used 864x576 pixel size. That's a good size.
That's your digital photography lesson for the day.

How bout this... we'll take a picture every wednesday for the next 2 months and compare.

Thanks, if i hadnt been working with photoshop for the last 5 years, it would help me a lot
the reason i post my pics in 1280 is because it provides more detail, i actually downsize them from 2160 for the benefit of everyone... i think the standard res is 1024 these days though... so i guess i'm a little ahead with this resolution... will 1024 be ok?
btw, if u check the properties of the pic in your browser, they are displayed at 640, so in order for them to fill the screen you must be running a really low resolution (640 or 800)

The difference between black and a light colour is night and day. Black makes a good looking car like the TL or TL-s look amazing. It is however hard to keep clean, but to clean and detail my car in the driveway is one way for me to relax.
Also, when you go to pick up your black car from the dealership for the first time, your first impression is boy did I make the right choice.
If you don't really care that much about your car and are not prepared to spend some time cleaning or caring for it, get a light colour.

About Black cars:
They look great when they are clean, and they really stand out.
When they are dirty, they are just plain old dirty cars that no one notices.
You know what, there are some times and some places where I do not want to draw attention to my car. In these cases, I leave it dirty, disgusting and inconspicuous.

It's true-black cars are a pain to keep clean, especially in Chicago weather- 2 days of sunshine (u decide to wash your car on the second day), followed by 2-3 days of rain/snow.
Also think birds can't stand clean, black cars (ole' black Max commercial)...lately they've been targeting my moonroof!
My next car is definitely a silver TL-S!

Ive had 3 black cars... I can tell you from first hand experience that they are the best looking cars on the road.......WHEN THEY ARE CLEAN! They take lots of care, show swirl marks very easily.
BTW - I love the lowered look, but, with the underbody kit coupled with midwestern winters, I think I will have to forego the lowering if I want to drive in any snow...
