Picked up car tonight, Pix tomorrow
Well, I said goodbye to my Black/Black 99TL Nav and picked up my Black/Black 02TL-S Nav. Got the spoiler, the body kit, the "bowling ball" wheel, and the dealer gave me the "bowling ball" sticker for around the gauges.
It's dark, but I promise to post GOOD pictures tomorrow!
First impressions (only drove it 20M home)
1) Fast! Really great cornering and a nice "tight" feel to the handling. Excellent road feel.
2) The headlights are AWESOME. The Fog lights are as well. They do a great job on dark, back woods roads. The brights light up the road considerably well.
3) The memory seat is cool. The buttons do not feel or look "cheap" to me. The key fobs are now numbered and the seats respond to each key fob!
4) The "Bowling Ball" black looks sweet. It melds nicely with the black interior. When you get right down to it, it's FAKE black wood or FAKE wood-colored wood. The operative word is FAKE. It looks good to me, and even my wife likes it!
5) The "Bowling Ball" steering weel looks sharp. It even "feels" cool when you corner and have to grab the smooth surface.
6) The silver gauges are wicked nice. At night, they are black faced with white/green indicators. Very nice.
7) The NAV, when off, displays a large clock in the center of the starfield.
8) The NAV still has no roads in the Rural areas! (Street Atlas USA for $30 has every road in the US. How about it, Acura/Alpine. What's the problem?)
9) The body kit looks really nice, especially the front. The sides and back look the same as the ones on my 99TL.
10) The front end looks great in person. My TL-S was parked near a 01 TL, and comparing the front ends was a no-brainer. The 01's "little" front looked far inferior to the larger, more angular grill. (No offense to you TL owners). This could be because this is a black car. I did not see a lighter colored one to compare.
11) The nose mask will not fit a TL-S with the body kit (at least not yet). My dealer tried to install it, but it did not fit over the extra sheet metal.
12) The drivers seat is very firm and comfortable. There is a lumbar support control, but I did not notice the difference. That could have been because of my coat.
13) The wheels don't look that bad (on the black car)
14) The side mirrors are not that much smaller than my 99TL. If I had not read about this "problem" here, I would not have noticed the size difference.
15) Yes, I paid list! So go ahead an rank on me. My lease was up today! Anyway, the car is worth it. Really.
16) My dealer, Schaller Acura in Manchester CT, was great at delivery, and the salesperson Amy was a pleasure to deal with (again)
17) I passed on the trunk liner.
18) I noticed that the temperature indicator on the climate control system did not illuminate at night. I do not know if this is a problem with my car, or a design thing.
Anyway, tomorrow I will take photos so you can all see the body kit and the steering wheel.
Stay tuned.....

....sounds like my ride except for the steering wheel! I DID get the trunk tray. Mine is supposed to be done a week from today. Im thinking about getting the chrome A C U R A and the rest of the chrome emblems black chromed. As for the grille, I'll probably leave it and see if I can get just the A emblem in the middle black chromed. Along with the 35% window tint, I think it will look really sharp!

I don't think it does on the 99 TL either. It's a passive LCD so it requires external lighting. If you have the radio or the nav. on you should be able to read it.

No. That was my error on the ride home from the dealership. The climate control was OFF and I did not notice it. (I was noticing a lot of other things ) The next night, once I turned the climate control on, the temp LCD lit up.
