Arrow PIC REQUEST!!!! Any TL with 8000K or 8500K HID's

Ok, im really considering getting the 8500K HID bulbs from EXCELERATE. The brand of bulbs he sells is made by Kaixen. From the pics ive seen, the bulbs look very nice and for the price its almost too good to pass up but i would like to see some pics of other TL's with 8000K or 8500K HID's in so that i can see what the color of the blue looks like. PLEASE POST ANY PIC YOU MIGHT HAVE OR KNOW OF, WITH A TL THAT HAS 8000-8500K HID's, thanks, id appreciate it very much.

at work but will post some pics when I get home...'06 TL w/ Mcculloch 8000k's. Nice shade of blue but still not as bright as the factory 4300k's...very happy with them though...granted these are on the projector headlamps so may look a little more blue than a reflector type housing....

250 is waaaaayyyyy too much. I'm getting mine for $150. I'm just worried that the color of blue is not gona be what i want. So are some of you saying that the TL cant take 8000K because of the stock Ballast not being strong enough or something??? I dont understand, i thought it was just a simple bulb swap?

Im not just gona settle for friken 6000K bulbs. If i can get the desireable blue color im looking for, then im gona get the bulbs and swap them out. Now, IF THERE IS AN EXPERT ON HID BULBS AND BALLAST etc that could help me out, please do so because im confused now with another member saying that our TL's can only take up to 6000K which i think is incorrect. But if that is true, then do i need to change my ballast or something for it to power 8000K bulbs or what???? I need some answers asap. Does the ballast even play any role in the outcome of the color????

Comon man, you've not been helpful at all in this post.

To answer the question, all you need to do is switch out the bulbs, you don't need a new ballast or anything.

I dont know what the hell your talking about or where you got your information. but you confused the hell out of me with every word i read. We can put in any K bulb in ours. It doesnt matter if its projector or not. That has nothing to do with it. 4k 6k 8k 10k are light outputs. The higher you go the more it will shift to blue and purple. Also the higher you go the LESS useable light output you have. 4300 is the brightest and mose useable light.

if you looking for the blue, 8000K is a must. 6000K will produce slight blue, but turns to bright snow white after few minutes w/ barely visible blues around it....

if you guys like mcculloch, i can get them for $150 a pair...let me know if anyone's interested! i believe they come w/ a full 1 yr warranty as well....not sure, gotta ask my friend!

You know whats funny, i originally was asking for pics of TL with 8K HID's and i havent gotten one yet but anyways, i do want the blue HID look but the thing is that i was gona order them from EXCELERATE because hes sellin them for $150 shipped and there KAXIEN which i read up on and they seem like pretty good bulbs and a good company. I dont know about warranty or not but what is keeping me from ordering them is that im not sure if the color blue they are is gona be what i want. You said that 8K is a must if i want the blue but see EXCELERATE is selling the 8500K, there not 8K, there supposed to be extreme blue but how extreme is that you know. Idk, i guess i could get them, put them in, if i dont like them that much then re sell them for a little lower on the black market board.

I know that this is not a picture of the tempurature that you asked for but I thought you might want to see the difference. These are 6500k. If you look closley you can tell that one of the bulbs is changing color. I suggest that you stay away from XenonDepot. They refused to replace the defective bulb.

In my 1st gen CL I had a pair of Kaxien 7500k and they were wonderful. I loved the blue color and will probably upgrade to 8000k when I replace the bulbs.

Let me clear things up before it gets out of control. Our ballast can handle bulbs over 4300K. Real HIDs are only 35 watts. How do I know, cause I have 10K on my TL and it is rated at 35 watts. I've had it on for over a year now and no problems.

BTW, 10K has a nice bluish tint to it. I've had 6000K on before I had the 10K but wanted something a little bluer. It looks a lot better in person though.

Anyway, here is a pic of my 10K during the day:

Thanks for your pic as well, see in the pic they look like a light blueish color. Makes me alll worried if i get the 8500K that its gona look teal and not royal blue color, or do blue HID's just not look royal blueish at all?

Good pics, thanks for those as well. Now see, in your pics your saying you have 8K in the fogs right, well in the pics your 8K look like there teal color blue not actual true blue color get what im saying. Thats what bothers me when i see 8K looking like that kind of blue in pics cuz i want a nice true blue unless its not possible to get a true blue color shade. If you look at your reg head light HID bulbs, those apear to have waaaaaayyyy more of a true blueish tint in them then the 8K you have in the fogs. What bulbs do you have in your reg headlights???

Nice pics. I think the 10ks are more of a purple than blue.. Looks like the 8k would be more of a blue color.

Well, its a done deal. I ordered my 8500K HID's from EXCELERATE today. KAIXEN is the brand and they look like there pretty good. $150 shipped i payed which sounds good to me. If anything, i can always resell them on the black market for a little cheaper then what i bought them in the case that i dont't like the color of them. Its gona take about 2 weeks for me to get them though cuz hes got an order comming in next week so a little bit of a waiting game but no big deal.

NOt a HIJACK

not to hijack this thread....but somewhat on topic.. I got some questions

I want to update my fog lights to HID (i have a 2002 tls), however i have changed to Lexan Lens because the original glass on the fog light housing cracked.

My question is...Will the new HID burn hotter and effect the Lexan (i.e. melt or warp)? I did a search and get conflicting answers some say it wont other say it will.

If this works out i too plan to buy the Kaixen kit off EXCELERATE...and 2002-2003 tl fog light housing holds 9006 bulbs right?

Can someone also tell me where they mounted there Ballast (pics would be great)

Thanks

Just a slight correction, those numbers are the colour temperatures

But you are absolutely correct about 4300K being the brightest. 4100-4300K colour temp bulbs have the most light output (lumens).

Everything you wanted to know about HID lighting and more can be found here: http://faqlight.carpassion.info

The HIDs run at 35watts and are cooler than the 51w 9006 bulbs that are in there already. I have not done the conversion so I can not say for certain, but I seroiusly doubt that you will have a problem.

Are you still waiting for your new bulbs? Make sure that you have a t20 security bit to open the housing. If you dont have one already you have to have it to open the back. The bit has a small dimple in to. They are a little hard to find. Not a regular item at HomeDepot or Lowes. I had to go to a specialty hardware store to get one. You might get lucky and find one at an ACE or TrueValue. Also, be careful with the clip that holds the bulbs in place. I had one break and spent 2 hours fashioning a replacement out of a paperclip. Oh so ghetto. BTW you can not get the clip with out a lens, pain in the a%%
