Phillips or OSram

Which bulbs come from the factory? They are theof the D2R variety correct? I'd like to keep everything as close to specs as possible to avoid warranty issues with Acura... we all know how good their customer service is

Yes, they are D2R. I think it comes with Osram which is also the same as Sylvania, but I'm not sure what your trying to say here. Are you trying to replace the bulbs and not void the warranty??

I want to install the 6000K bulbs.. but I have not had many good experiences with Acura's service departments.. so if anything goes wrong with the HID system.. I don't want them to have any excuse as to what made them fail... If I put the same manufacturer's bulb in.. they can't say boo! Where can I get the Osram 6000K replacement bulbs.. I have been looking all over...

Well, you can always keep the stock D2R bulbs and if there's something wrong with the 6000K; which I doubt, you can just swap them back before you bring it back to the dealership.

Yeah.. I guess that is a possibility... is there any benefit to Phillips vs. Osram? I notice that Osram is not as readily available as Phillips... any reason why?

You can do a search on this topic. I'm not really sure what the differences are between the two brands, but both are well known companies. I know that Osram is a little cheaper compare to Philips.

There is no benefit to using Osram or Phillips. The bulbs are both of high quality manufacturing. But they guy I purchased my bulbs from mentioned that the Osram lasts slightly longer than the Phillips bulb. The colors are identical. If you want to get 6000k bulbs, contact Songoku on this board...he has a person in Taiwan that sells the Osram and Phillips bulbs. The Osrams are selling for $240 shipped overnight and the Phillips are selling for $268 shipped. Also the 2001 and 2002 CLs used Osram as stock, and the new 2003 uses Phillips. Keep in mind that switching your stock 4300k to 6000k, you will lose some slight visability but you gain a cooler looking color.

I'm not sure if the the 2003 TL is different. On my CL it's Phillips. I can not say why Honda decided to change brands, but I can tell you they definitely toned down the brightness of the lights.

If you are using the projector/circular Hella fogs then the light may look brighter because of the projector style design. Take for example, BMW's headlights. From a distance they appear to be purple, but the closer you get to them, it's just a dull whitish look. The projectors always look brighter. If you want bright, just buy the D2R and stick it into your headlight and your headlights will look crazy bright.
