Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows a place that I can buy a performance chip (one that adds like 20-30hp) for my 1999 TL...if they even make one. THANKS!

They do exist for Hondas. As a matter of fact there is a Hondata one for the RSX and I've read that the RSX-S with h/i/e and hondata piggy back have run in the high 13s.

The CL guys have been working on getting a piggy-back unit for both the n/a guys as well as the blown guys. The N/A (naturally aspirated - ie no Turbo or supercharger) are looking at a unichip from a company like dastek or something. Blown guys are working with some e-manage unit. Don't ask me specifics yet because I am only relaying what I've read. the techies over at A-CL are working with both "chips" and the manufacturers.

It was rumored that Hondata was working on something for the TL/CL/Accord crowd but not sure where they are with that.

Sorry there is no replacable ECU chip for our cars (or any Honda) that I seen. Unichip is not a chip, its a piggyback computer. As far as I know, none of the Honda ECU are reprogrammable, so you won't be see any chips for them anytime soon. Piggyback are not chip, because they do not replace the ECU, it just alters the signals to and from the ECU. Since our ECU is not reprogrammable, you would have to buy an unprogram ECU and program it and since Honda does not sell these commercially, I don't think you will ever see true chips in these.

Also chips doesn't do crap unless you are heavy in mods (Supercharger, Turbo) So don't waste your time till you're max on other mods.

Exactly, he's right, Honda Modules aren't reprogrammable, talking about EEPROm, not the hole cpu. Of course u can get HONDATA or an AEM but you can't install a Neuspeed or Garrett type chip. This was also confirmed by my local Acura head mechanic.

Whatever you call them, you will not see anywhere near 30 HP - the cars are quite dialied-in from the factory. You could see some useable mid-range torque with a hotter spark map, but that is dependent on 93 octane for starters.

While there is no chip... I do believe VENOM has an ECU that does increase HP... If I am correct, it is called the VEMON 400... will look into it.

I agree, which is why I said "piggy back" and put chip in parentheses. Anyway, they do little compared to if you were blown, but they help (at least they have for the RSX) and can help us some as well.

From: Miami - just one day, I would like to drive without getting cut off!
Actually there are a few CL drivers working on two different applications including a chip (Unichip -piggyback- I believe) and fuel management system as we speak. According to one the guys the latter would compare to the 3.5L upgrade. Something should be coming through really soon though.

What do you guys think about this...legit or not? This auction is newly listed and sounds different than the others. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2439174008
