Talking People have problem with miss firing please read.

Hi guys,
I am not sure if vaporlock = miss firing... my 2000 TL has vaporlock problem, and symptoms are hard to start, vibration after starting.. etc.. which is very similar to what people called 'miss fire. My dealer fixed my problem. They told me they installed a timing fan which it keeps the fan running for additional 10-15 mins after the car is shut down. After the fan is installed, i no longer have problem with hard starting, or vibration. I don't know if it's gonna be a fix for people who have problem to start the car or engin check light... but i am sure if the problem is caused by vaporlock then it's definitly a fix. Hope it helps.

does this have anything to do with the loud popping sound that can happen once while starting the car on a cold day?

yeah I have some trouble starting sometimes. Sometimes it doesn't start right away and I gotta keep the key turned for like 2 seconds.

tea: I think the popping sound has nothing to do with hard starting ...

haha: I can only relate this fix to vaporlock problem. I am not sure if vapor lock is the same as miss firing? but if vaporlock and miss firing are the same thing then this will work.
Vapor lock is actually hot gas get locked in gas rail after the car is turned off. These gas vaporize and traped inside the rail, this causes hard starting and vibration of the vehicle...the vibration goes away in few mins when the new gas go through the rail.. so the fan will definitly work for the problem, cuz it runs for additional 10 to 15 mins after the car is turned off so it can get the gas to cool down so there is no vapor traped inside the gas rail. I am not sure if you understand what i am talking about here, cuz this is only what i heard from Acura, could be BS, but i don't care cuz my problem is fixed.

Let me say it again I only know the problem that i have is called vaporlock, and have very similar symptoms as how people described as miss firing, so i thought it might be the same thing but with a different name. so anyone with this problem can call up acura and ask if this is gonna be a fix for the problem. For those who have check engin light on, this might not help onless the light is caused by vapor lock as well... By the way this problem only apply to 2000 TL cuz 99TL has a different gas rail system.

Didn't the older Legends have a timer that left the fan running after the car was shut off? I seem to remember my friends 92 leaving the fan running after the car is turned off.

My 89 Honda Prelude had this. After a long period of driving and turning off the car, my fan would kick on to cool off the engine. I dont remember hearing it on the TL.

Is the popping youre getting coming from the AC? I used to get that from using my defroster. After using it, turning it on again would make this pop. Not sure if this is what youre talking about, but if it is, all the dealer needs to do is lubricate somethig in there.

SL: You have the engin light problem right? Downtown Acura fixed my problem.. From what i remember you don't have a good experience with Downtown Acura? Well, ask them if your problem is causing by vaporlock or not.. if not then i can't do anything about it .. but if it is then tell them to fix it.. if they say they can't do anything about it ... blah blah.. give them HELL! cuz mine is fixed.

You know what? you can tell them to install the timing fan ... i am not sure if the engin light will go away or not but i am 70% sure... your hard start in winter, and vibration will go away..

Ok my car has vibrates if i drive for a distant and shut it down, if i start the car again within 30 mins the car will vibrate and sometimes hard to start. Happens more often in the winter cuz the fuel is winter fuel. If this applies to you then i am sure the timming fan will work.. tell me more about your car..

Would you mind letting me know which dealer did you go to in Toronto that fixed your problem? Thanks in advance...
