Part Request

I have a 2002 TL Type S. I want to replace the chrome trim plate that is attached to the hood and fits up against the Acura logo grill on the front bumper.

Does anyone know if they offer it in other finishes besides chrome?

Thanks!

I believe there are some DIY's on painting it, or you can buy a blank from a Vendor here on AZine (as I was told) and have it painted whichever way you want by a shop.

you can sand the chrome off of it and paint it. mine has been painted black to match my black grill.

you can buy a new one from oemacuraparts . com or acuraoemparts .com

Thanks for the information. Does anyone know the part # for this chrome strip that attaches to the hood. I checked a couple Acura parts websites and I can't find it under "hood" or "grill".

I believe if you take it apart, it'll be on the inside of that piece, but I can't be too sure about that tbh.

Thanks! I found it (I think).

Any advice on how to remove/install? I felt around for two clips under the hood. Not sure if they are bolts are pull pins.

When you open the hood you'll see 5-6 hex nuts, unscrew those to take off the grille, then just unscrew the chrome part with a Phillips head screw driver. Oh also when you unscrew those weird hex nuts, there's two plastic tabs that you need to push in, I believe they are somewhere behind the "A" emblem.

I mean honestly, its way less complicated than the way I'm explaining, pretty self explanatory tbh .

I'm only removing/replacing the chrome top section that connects to the hood. I'm not removing or replacing the grill section that connects to the bottom/front bumper.

When I open the hood, I don't see any type of bolts or screws that connect the chrome top section to the hood. Only after I feel around inside holes in the hood near the chrome top section do I feel two tabs, bolts, etc.
