Painting over the DC Ceramic headers?

Hey guys so I have been looking at putting on my headers soon!

But before I did I found a pin hole leak but was able to get it fixed (by a mechanical quality engineer with a CNC machine in his garage!)
Smoke tested and all was good!

So I had been friends with some other local Honda/Acura guys and looked at their DC Headers and after a while it has rusted and looked really bad.

I had looked up Header paint and got some VHT 118 Primer, and was going to top it off with some VHT Flameproof SP101 on top.

Now I have my Air Intake that I will be testing this out on (application wise) to see how many cans it takes for a good application.
My Concern is how will it affect the coating allready on the headers. Should I scuff them up before application?

And what concerns about heat soak to the flameproof paint?

What do you guys think?

I do need to protect from these harsh Michigan salt bath's. It has affected nearly all DC Headers I have seen in this area.
