Won't the paint just start flaking off or rubbing off after a short time. If you think about it, it will rub up against your keys while in your pocket and get scratched. And from constant usage of the key fob itself, the paint will naturally wear off and so you'll be back to where you began ![2 Cents](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/2cents.gif)
Edit: In retrospect, maybe several layers of clearcoat might slow the wear process

I knew some people that knew some people and they had done this to their FOBs, yet even though I had one of these in my hand once, up close it looked like crap and I have no idea what they used. This was in the 80's by the way (were you even born then?)

I'd suggest running down to the local hobby shop and picking up some of the higher quality model paints. Sand the crap out the FOB before painting. I also suggest going with an air-brush application to avoid ugly brush marks. Then clear coat the hell out of it.

Yes, Please atleast rattle can it! No Brushes, lol.
Depending on the color it could look good. Personally, I don't think red would look good. Unless it wasn't super super glossy. Maybe something like gunmetal would look good(even though thats kind of close to stock)

How about the Fusion line of paints from Krylon. They're designed for plastics and hold up well. Or liquid vinly http://www.neverpaintagain.com/int1.htm Not sure how well it'll work though, but it might be worth a try.

the hardest part would be getting the paint to adhere. You must use a flexadditive primer, which you can get at an autobody paint supply. If you dont have one nearby, then maybe check out those Krylon Fusion paints for a primer as mentioned by the previous poster. Those paints must have the flexadditive in them since they are designed to bond to plastics.
