Question Painting the hinged gutter guard black??

I am stopping by Home Depot on my way home tonight to pickup high temp flat black paint and the hinged gutter guard, so I can finally make the home depot grill! I think I am going to paint the gutter guard with the hi-temp paint (along with my exhaust Y pipe). Is there anything I need to do to the gutter guard to prep it for the paint?? I was thinking four coats would be good, right?
If anyone has done this, tips would be appreciated! Thanks!

4 coats!?

four coats sounds like a lot for a mesh grill. if you want to do a really good job. spray 1 coat of primer first then apply 2 coats of the black paint. i sprayed one coat of hi temp enemal on my mesh grill and that seemed to last forever.

Is there a difference between hi temp enamel and the regular hi temp paint that everyone uses for their exhaust pipes?
