painting calipers

Those of you that have painted your calipers,do you take the calipers completly apart??Is there a DIY?

I painted mine on the car. just degrease them REALLY good, use a stiff scrub brush and scrub them clean get a good heat primer then use any paint you want

What color did you do...any pics? I have a Silver Satin I was thinking black? You think red is to bright?

I took the simple route for painting my calipers. I did the above thing and use a wire brush to knock off any rust or dirt and I just painted them. I used gas grille paint. When it drys it's like a semi-gloss and is very durable. If you overspray on the rotors it comes off the first time you stop the car. I find myself having to touch them up once a year when I take off my snows to install my chromes. I like this paint because its cheap and easy, looks great and can handle more heat then you will apply to the brakes.

go with black,any other color is too much for our car imo.

I did black, it's nice not seeing rust on the calipers. I just took the wheels off and painted the calipers while they were still on the car.

And for the paint i used VHT Gloss black caliper paint good quality stuff as for preping i like the dremmel to get in any tight spots can use some rust remover inhibitor too.

Yes you take them off completely and clean them very good with metal brush or you can use sand paper.

You can also add a decal like this one




and you can get them from this side, they have different fonts and formats just need to email them.
