I painted mine on the car. just degrease them REALLY good, use a stiff scrub brush and scrub them clean get a good heat primer then use any paint you want

I took the simple route for painting my calipers. I did the above thing and use a wire brush to knock off any rust or dirt and I just painted them. I used gas grille paint. When it drys it's like a semi-gloss and is very durable. If you overspray on the rotors it comes off the first time you stop the car. I find myself having to touch them up once a year when I take off my snows to install my chromes. I like this paint because its cheap and easy, looks great and can handle more heat then you will apply to the brakes.

And for the paint i used VHT Gloss black caliper paint good quality stuff as for preping i like the dremmel to get in any tight spots can use some rust remover inhibitor too.

Yes you take them off completely and clean them very good with metal brush or you can use sand paper.
You can also add a decal like this one
and you can get them from this side, they have different fonts and formats just need to email them.
