painting calipers?

I have been wanting to paint my calipers and have decided to do them this weekend. So my question is what do you guys use to paint your calipers? I have been to the local performance shop and they sell caliper paint for $30.00 but you need 2 bottles to do all 4 calipers. Is there a cheaper paint I can use?

Yeah, you can use just about any high heat paint. The calipers don't get really hot and I've been told you can use regular paint. but I used high heat paint.

Check the auto parts and home supply stores. Don't waste your money on the expensive stuff.

I agree with Neil.
Joey and I bought the high heat paint from Autozone for like $5.99 a bottle and it works great. Don't waste your $$$.

Actually...it costs 4.99 for the high heat paint...no need to get the $30 + crap to just paint the calipers...a wast of $$ like Binh says..especially FoliaTec...what a waste..

Thanks alot guys. It actually costs $60.00 for the other stuff because you need 2 spray bottles to do all 4 calipers. Well, I am going to grab some high heat paint from Autozone this weekend and do them. 500 degrees should be ok right? Also, how many layers did you guys use?

What color are you doing? I really want to do red, but I'm afraid I'll get flamed.

You should do quite a few coats. One thing you won't wanna do is have to do it again. It takes a lot of time to mask everything off, so take your time and do it right the first time.

I was planning on red. I think the SSm will look hot with red. IMO, black or silver would be too subtle. I don't care what other people think, haha.

That's the right attitude to have. It's your car so do whatever you want to it.
BTW, I am painting mine blue.
