The single biggest thing is to make sure they are clean VERY CLEAN. Scuffing the surfaces to be painted with a scuff pad helps. Then a good primer, and paint. I used the duplicolor Metalcast and it has lasted along time and worn well. (winters have chipped them slightly from ice build up, but its been on for like 4+ years and still shine)

How is it done.

1. Do you have to remove the calipers completely i.e. remove the brake fluid lines?
2. What is the best paint to use (name and where do you get it)
3. How long does it take.

....ummm I think that is it.

thanks

well kris pretty much told you how to do it...

you dont have to remove the caliper just as long as u mask everything off properly..

i used caliper paint made by VHT it dries fairly quick (about 20-30minutes per caliper) it also gives off a nice glossy finish.

give some respect man. its not really ricing it out at all. paint them black would keep it clean still

use the high heat paint that can withstand like 1100 degrees farenheit. and really spray about 6-10 inches away and not to close or youll get too much coverage on one area and it will drip.

High heat like that isnt necessary. If your calipers got any where near that hot the fluid would have boiled itself away and the seals in the caliper themselves would melt. Ive used regular automotive paint in the past with 0 problems. As long as the prep work is good the paint will last.

Here's a nice how-to. It's for an MDX but everything is very similar. Good luck.

i figured that so with common sense after experiance. people would say use high heat foor the engine cover and such and i used the normal cheap ones and it still with-held the heat.

Alot of people think any color other then black is rice. When you have red calipers people feel that your trying to make it look like you have BIG brakes when you really don't. I have always felt that when you paint your calipers a color it takes attention away from the wheels. I put a freah coat of gas grill black on my calipers, mounting brackets, backing plates, tie rods, shocks, etc - when it drys is a flat finish with a little shine. I think it makes the car look very clean and mature. You do not want that comination silver and rust look so you have to paint them. Im just not a huge fan on the color thing. I would not make fun of somebody who did - its just not my thing.
