Painted Y pipe

I just preped and painted my Y pipe with aluminum high temp paint. Will post pics soon. I was wondering since many here did so, how far up the pie did you paint and how much of the ends where it meets the muffflers?

What kind of stuff do you use to prep the aluminum?

I also just painted to where the Y pipe starts. Just wanted to paint the area that you can see from behind. I was also too lazy to jack up the car to paint anything further

Do you mean if you need to spray some sort of primer or sand the area? I just sprayed the paint on. My Y pipe area was not very dirty. So far no peeling.

I just sanded down the pipe and used a couple of coats of high temp black grill paint. I don't think the paint had any problem sticking to the pipe, as it is still all there

Yeah. I used High temp paint with ceramic. Just read and make sure it handles high temp. The exhaust never gets as hot as the engine so it won't be a problem. Just pic a day that is not windy and not humid. Let it dry normal for several hours or a day. Then use the car for a while to let the paint cure at a high temp.
