I believe it was BigMonkey70. You can use any high heat paint to do it. Make sure to clean the engine cover really well before painting. You may also want to sand it down with some fine sandpaper to get the paint to stick.

Wow his engine looks great. How long does something like that typically last?

The key is in the prep work. Gotta sand down the cover really well so the paint has a nice porous surface to stick to. Otherwise it will start to flake off if something hits it.

Exclamation Painted mine BLUE!

...and I did not sand the engine cover. I didn't want to ruin the surface. I'll post some pics in a minute.

Does the paint stick? I painted my battery cover twice. The first time the paint wouldn't stick. I sanded it down with very fine sandpaper and it looks good.

Whatever works.

Thumbs up Hey Neil....

I understand doing it for the battery cover since it's smooth! I didn't paint that yet!
The engine cover has a sort of a pebbled surface - but I didn't paint that entirely either! Let me get my pics out

What year is your TL? The covers are different in my 2002 and your covers look more like my Accords.

I believe thats a 1999 valve cover which I actually like better than the newer ones which started in 2000 and are much plainer.

I finished painting the front piece and the battery. What size is the bolt that holds down the main top engine cover? All my wrenches are too big.

Sorry DEEZNUTZ .... I guess i am way too late on this one huh .... haven't been on the board much lately. like Neil said, i use high heat paint. I didn't want my cover to shine like AdamYankee so i use the ceramic highheat paint rather than glossy paint and you gotta prime it first.... the gray part and the part with the logo can be remove for a cleaner paint job (no need to masking tape around the edges)

As for the battery cover, you gotta sand it well then prime and paint.

The bolts should be a 10mm metric

Finish Finally!!! I'll post pics tonight when the paint finish drying. Should I also paint the stock front tie-bar??? As is it looks great! I'm soooo Happy:p I sanded down the engine covers and the battery cover. Used high temperature cermanic blue paint too(rated up 600degrees). All and all an easy and worth-while mod.

And my wife thought putting armourall on the plastic engine covers were bad, if I did the paint thing to them, I think my wife would have me committed.

Both painted covers look great.

I am also curious if you guys clearcoated it.
Also, is the paint you used in a spray can? If it is, is it hard to keep the paint in the place you want it?

looks good. I like the blue color. Looks especially good considering you have the AEM Intake to match as well as the pulleys.

Any other engine dress up you plan on doing?

Here's what I used:
1 spray can of high temperature ceramic blue paint
1 assorted wetordry sandpaper

The grey plastic piece on the engine comes off and the black with acura name and symbol comes off too. Make sure all the covers are very clean.

I'm not exactly sure what to do next but looking at my friend engine might have given me some ideas...:o
