Question Paint Job

Hey all I have a question. My 99 TL-P is in serious need of some type of paint help. There are quite a few clear coat scratches from carelessness by the previous owner ( my dad.) I want a real quality job with an exact paint match. Should I go to the Acura dealership? If so what should I ask for... Thanks once again for your always helpful advice....

Acura dealerships don't do bodywork. They will refer you to a local or recommended shop. With paint matching you will likely to get 90-95% paint match. Never 100%! The reason is the paint mixture and the different equipment used, paint gun that will not give u 100% match.

So you want to get the entire car repainted or you just want to get a new clear coat?

My dealership in Dallas does body and paint, and they do a dam fine job. I had my GS-R done, and my wife's POS 4Runner for bang ups. They did a great job.
It was Goodson Acura in Irving, TX.

In Raleigh Durham area - hood roof and trunk repaint was 1186.00 - if that gives you some idea - they would have to do the whole fender unless you just wanted touch up..the clear coat scratches can probably be gotten rid of by a professional detailer using an rotorary buffer and a two or three stage compounding (as long as they are not deeper than the clear) - A detailer might even be able to do the touch up work on the nickle sized chip - probably save you a lot over having to get a repaint - a good pro detailer would charge between 100-200 depending on the condition and work needed done.

hi...just wondering...as you inspected your paint job, did you notice any "dust lumps" ... they can be under the clear coat, or they can be actual bumps in the paint ... thanks

i wouldnt go to a car dealer for that! that would run you a ton. i would look for a reputable shop that does excelent work. and for what your looking for, there are many was to accomplish that. they could add a red flake to the silver, or the easiest way would be to add a red pearl to the clear
