paint issues

hello all...

anyone notice paint "imperfections" with their cars? example: on a few spots, you can see that specks of dust got into the paint, causing either small bumps or grey dots underneath the clear coat...the dealer will fix under warranty, but i'm afraid of discoloration...comments?

also, feel free to vent about stone chips !!

thanks

that's a known bulletin from way back!

my 99 is doing it in some spots! a very tiny implosion under the paint that rises up to form a tiny dimple under the clearcoat, sometimes slightly discolored?. i already had the dealer look at it. it has to be examined by the regional paint guy dude, that comes around once every 3 weeks on a thursday! at least in my area. kman

The other day I noticed what appears to be an indentation in my paint in the right side rear pillar. A very small rectangle shape that appears to be missing the clear coat. Any ideas? Would this be covered under warranty?

Also, the crack where the hood and left front side meet, there is this thick deposit of some sort of substance that is pretty much stuck on my paint. It is also around the crack of my left side rear door handle. It looks like dried mud actually, but it's not mud, and it is stuck on there pretty good. Did this come from the factory? What could it be?

Thanks!!!

My brand new 02 ssm had defects in the paint and lemme tell you something.........if its not that bad just leave it because i went thru two paint jobs on my bumper b4 they got the color rite and on top of that they blended the paint into the car which totally pisssssed me off but what else could i do.....its a can of worms and i suggest that if u can live with it and its not that noticable to just leave it . it makes me sick that my brand new car has a painted rear section now....and i called acura's head office and they said that if after they painted it that it didnt match then i could file another complaint.....im so disappointed with the new acura's there making here. Quality was so much better when they were made in japan

thanks again, kman

thanks kman...but are there bulletins re paint?

i saw one for 1999 and 2000...PDI paint defects from environmental fallout...is that what you are talking about? if so, what does that mean? my guess is that these bulletins refer to dust ("fallout") that "Damages" the paint...if so, there is no such bulletin for 2001 (my year)...

thanks
