P0132 and P1740...

Done the research and here is where Im at.

Car history: Has 105k done, Did 3x3 Flush 6,500 miles ago, Fluid still pretty red looking, 3rd and 4th Trans Pressure Switches replaced at same time, car has 136k on it and maintenance reqd light has been flashing for a week in KEY ON position then goes out after about 5 flashes...Car shifts smooth other than a slight shimmy type vibration around low rpm and easy throttle between a 1 to 2 shift and say 2200 rpms (need to check balljoints/axles)... shifts are firm, downshifts are firm but not harsh, everything else seems good. Trans has blue ATF plug and was replaced under warranty at 63k (not oiler add on)

I see the P0132 is O2 Sensor and Im reading the front or pre-cat location seems to normally be the culprit... Is this something I should only get from dealer? or any specific brand for quality? Havent crawled under there but curious if anyone knew how many wire 02 Sensor it is as well.....

Now for the P1740.... I see its 4th clutch pressure switch related... now as stated above I replaced it at the time of trans 3x3 (after I did the final refill). I see I should probably try removing the 2 switches again and clean them?

Just checking to be sure Im on right track or if there is any other insight... Im hoping trans isnt on its way out. Thanks

the good news: Mait req light is ONLY the oil change reminder--
it will go on solid pretty soon- dont sweat that

Reset procedure is:
key in and ready- left hand thru top of steering wheel - push and hold BOTH trip buttons IN
now with right hand turn key to ON, not to start-- just ON
mait light will flash 10 times/seconds and go off
turn key off
remove hands
DONE!
in 6000-6500 miles it will do the flashing at start again- getting more flashes as you near 7500 and finally stays on... until reset
ONLY counts miles- nothing else
So you need an oil change soon, or last place forgot to reset

the O2 sensor, there is an electrical test you can run on it- or just figure 130kmiles is a good life,
and new one never hurt,,according to the displays in parts store

DENSO brand avail at parts store is what you want- thats the OE brand and exact replacement part = plug and play

Have you done the egr port and passage cleaning of the intake manifold yet?
needed every 75kmiles and not in the repair schedule

rough shifting,,,try the switch cleaning
Ive had the shudder shift a long time, trans now about 40 on it but smooth in all other shifts
How is yours during full throttle stomp like getting on freeway in a hurry
from 25mph in D5?

Ill definitely go denso then. Was hoping you would chime in.

No egr port passage cleaning performed. I did seafoam in tank as well as sucked one through the throttle body vacuum port about 2000 miles ago.

The shifting isnt rough at all, just that shimmy/shudder at low rpm/low throttle and mainly in 1/2 shifts. MIGHT be in 2-3 shifts when in sport shift (forcing it into third and somewhat lugging that gear) Hard to tell. My full throttle stomps are fine driving in D5 at any/all speeds and just stomping on it. So it seems my clutches are holding up rather well so far. I strained/screened my trans fluid on the last 3x3 and found basically nothing more than somewhat discolored fluid.

Ordered front O2 Sensor and just got done cleaning the 3rd and 4th gear trans pressure switches... Ball joints, tierods all seem good. I get a LITTLE bit of upward movement in the axles on the differential side... and I mean MINIMAL... That wouldnt be my vibration at all would it? Never pulled these axles out before but are they just a push-in type that have like a circlip that holds them in place? that could be the play im feeling in them

after you install the O2

well replaced o2 sensor, reset ECU and cleared codes as recommended. went for 20 minute drive while watching diagnostic tool monitors and all seems good. Idle smoothed out and not feeling like a misfire or "poppy" and no codes about shift solenoid since cleaned 2 days ago.

Will check in a few more days

lets assume it was all O2 sensor- that means the system has been running richer than normal (its a safety feature)

1 can of seafoam in half a tank of gas should clear that right up, and restore normal running with improved mpg

loss of mpg often first sign of O2 prob

Thats just it though, I was having the problem earlier on but didnt actually check codes at that point. I just automatically did a can of seafoam in the tank and then gradually sucked one through the throttle body vacuum port...

I thought that was going to fix it all but it continued so after going further and pulling codes and replacing O2 sensor, that seemed to have been the fix.

i changed both 3rd and 4th clutch pressure switch and i ahvent felt any noticeable difference. I feel a little bit more secure that i have changed them though. Plannin to do a 3x3 flush on the tranny within the next 2 weeks and i'm betting thats where i'll feel the big difference.
Hey jplasse, did u do your 3x3 at the dealer or did yourself?

I do them myself. really not much to them. with ramps/jack and some basic tools its pretty simple. I believe there is a DIY in the tech section. Time consuming but cheaper than going to the dealer and any money I can save doing something myself, ill do

yeah i saw the DIY. i did a 1x1 flush 30k miles ago. just Thought you went to the dealer or a mechanic. I've always done this on my car myself. That's what this forum is for right?
