Over heating

I added some name brand coolant to my 2003 Acura TL. Then I realized in the manual that it says to use Honda coolant. I'm replacing the coolant today with Hondas. The old coolant has been In there for a month. Can this cause any damage?

just flush it out and put the new one in. it's too late now anyway. Monitor the temperature, other coolants have silicates that Honda doesn't recommend in their cars hence the suggestion.

Man that brass nipple(drain screw) is impossible to get off that's on the engine. Idk how I can get it off. I've tried everything lol. I wish it had the same drain plug as the one on the bottom of the radiator.

I have recently stripped the brass nipple drain plug on the bottom of the engine. My question is if I can take off the bigger nut behind the brass drain screw would the smaller brass drain screw come off with it? And will the Coolant drain if the larger nut comes off? I've never drain my coolant before so these are are very tight in a very small place. Very frustrating!!!!thanks for the help

Would there be anyway of flushing the rest of the system through a tube or outlet/inlet at a low point in case I can't get off the drain screw?i have prob removed about 1.10 gallons out of the reserve and radiator.Very frustrating!!!!thanks for the help

The easiest way to flush is to take the thermostat out then put the housing and hose back on without thermostat then take both upper and lower Hose off the radiator, then take a Garden hose to the upper hose and allow the water to flow threw the block for 15 or 30 mins(which ever makes you happy).

Also back flush it by doing the same thing to lower hose.

Dont over complicate the procedure it's pretty easy

also I've ran prestone since I bought my car that was about 40k miles ago and it hasant overheated, it's still clean as it was brand new.

absolutely nothing wrong with running the 100 percent correct stuff but remember these are creeping up on 15 year old cars (but always use Honda ATF lol)

Yes, if you take off the entire bolt on the back of the engine block, it should come out as one piece. You will then be able to replace the drain nipple.

Honestly, you don't even have to mess with that. Just drain the radiator and refill it with water. Repeat like 3x, then drain and refill with proper coolant.
When I took out the thermostat I noticed it may be opened. Is this considered opened. I know it's suppose to be fully opened to 3/8th"s or 10mm, but I don't know where to measure from. So in the manual it states that if the thermostat is opened at room temp it needs to be replaced. Any help would be greatly appricated. Thank you
Is the thermostat opened or closed in the pic? I think it's either stuck open or closed because it only moves about a 16th. So please let me know if it the thermostat in the pic is opened it closed
