what temp is it getting to ? 3/4,,, redline?? how fast?
and normal is 1-2 lines below half all the time,, yes?

clogged radiator would be my first guess, and new rad cap to go with it
if fans are working your choices are low cooling flow thru rad
or bad water pump

Any signs of pump leakage,,look under car and up at wp for whitish color trail
from its weep hole--indicates bad seal on wp shaft

coolant less than 5 years old?,,water pump timing belt under 105kmiles on this set of them?
coolant level is full to top of rad? and res bottle level in range?
inside cap of res bottle= has hose firmly attached?

thanks if i drive with the A/C on no problem but once the traffic stops it goes all the way up within a few minutes but if i start driving goes back down its the original radiator I'll look into that and no signs of leak from the water pump and coolant is old

Don't forget the thermostat too; if you are changing the coolant, change this as well - yours may be stuck.

Try this. Open the hood and remove that black plastic which covers the 2 rads. Look in between the 2 rads. Do you see accumulation of leaves, debris? Get a water hose and thoroughly rinse thru both rads. Dirt accumlation dramatically reduces cooling efficiency of rads.

Drain and flush the cooling system. Replace the T-stat and rad cap, make sure that the system is burped of any trapped air. It would'nt hurt to replace the cooling fan's sensor switch. When the AC is on, both fans will normally run, but w/o air on at idling and not moving when hot......does the fan come on ?

Yes, it may be that a portion of your rad's core is plugged. But I would seriously check that there is enough coolant in there first with the heat set on max. Remove the rad cap and start the car and let idle for 15 min to heat up. Check the fluid level and add if it drops. Turn on a/c and see what happens to fluid level.

It may also be the coolant temp sensor. I'm not sure if it works in conjunction with the a/c. Someone else can chime on this.
