outside temp reading

New Problem! finally changed the cabin filters. i've owned this 99 for 4-5 years, and the originals were still in there. pretty gross. took all of 30 mins to do it. don't know if there is a connection, but now the outside temp reading on the dash instrument is way off. i'm in san diego, and it's in the low 60's tonight, and it was saying it 86 outside, now the auto climate isn't working cuz it thinks it hot outside. anyone know whats going on here?

Not related. The sensor is in front of the radiator. Did you try resetting the "maintenance required" light? Had the car been sitting hot for a while when you first noticed it?

there are 2 interior temp sensors- one has been blocked or disturbed somehow?
look on top of dash and by your right knee for them
those run the auto climate

the outside temp `display adjustment` range is 5 degree + -
its purpose it to advise of freezing temps that can produce road ice
as said- its sensor is in front of the radiator where it gets hot when parked,
and after 5 minutes driving should be correct again

You use the trip buttons and key position to get to its adjust mode-
can be accidentally done while trying to reset oil minder/mait light
