Last summer the gauge on my TL was always up at around 117 when I would get in the car after work. This was when it was around 100 outside. In fact, it has always read a little high. Of course, if you take into account the heat index (heat + humidity), it is probably just right.
Of course, maybe Acura IS measuring the heat index, but I doubt it.

Thermometers shouldn't take into account the humidity. They only measure air temperature, but higher humidity makes the human body feel a lot warmer.
Just to be picky...![](http://www.acura-tl.com/ubb/smile.gif)

Hi guys,
FYI
the temperature gauge is not accurate unless you are going 35mph or faster. At least that was the case for 99-01, but I doubt they fixed that on the 02.
If you want more info, do a search on the subject, it has been covered quite extensively.
Glad that it is warmer down in So Cal, I'm going there this weekend. Sick of this gloomy rainy days in the bay area.

You know what they need? A temperature of the inside cabin. I know they have to check it for the auto climate control, but you know what the goal is, not what it really is. I'd be interested to know because I'm in Phoenix, AZ and the temperature inside is way hotter than the outside during the summer...115 outside means 130 or so in side....I can't wait until summer

the actual device that reads the temp is located near the hood latch supposedly, though ive never actually seen it
you can recalibrate the guage if you feel its off in any way by pushing a combo of the reset/select trip meter buttons
if you still feel its off, youll have to remove the meter in front of the car and put it in a ice cold glass, then recaliblrate it though the trip meter buttons

Yes, it definitely has 3 digits. I have seen over 110 here in Dallas many times. ![](http://www.acura-tl.com/ubb/frown.gif)
It also seems a little high at times - perhaps it is not calibrated correctly to compensate for under-hood ambient temperatures. It seems to be the highest when parked for a while, and I assume that it is the engine heat.

I have noticed my temp guage reads 2-4degrees high and it is slow to equilibrate onece you drive it. On my 2town cars and 2 caddies I've owned, once you started driving it only took a mile or 2 before they were right on the money. I think the temp sensor is located in a bad location. I have had lots of digital thermometer( indoor/outdoor etc and played with them placing them in freezers etc. and it only takes a few minutes for them to equilibrate.
