There's no way in hell you'll get the TL-S with Navi for $31,500 out the door. The prices on this site are mostly just for the car, before taxes, plates, etc. In order for you to get the car for $31,500 OTD, they would have to give you the car almost at invoice, and give you the Navi for free. I got my car (no nav) for around $29,500 which comes to around $32k OTD.... and again, that's without the Navi. If you could get low $33k out the door, that would be a good price. Right now it seems that California has the most TL-S' and the best prices. Up here in the Northeast, it's a lot tighter. Look around and possibly do a fax attack. Try and get around $33k-$33.5k out the door. It may be tough b/c the car is so hot, but if you're patient, you should find that deal....

juniorbean is right, I think I got a great deal on mine and it was no where near under $32,000 OTD. I got the car itself for $32,200...with all of the accessories it ran me $34,500...my OTD was around $36,700.

FYI...

Twodays ago, I got my TL (not an S!, no nav) for $29,700 OTD. So, like the others said, you are lucky if you can get a TL-S w/Nav for $33,000 - $33,500 OTD.

However, the three Acura Dealers I visited, all have a lot more TL-S's in stock than the TL's. -- So you might be able to get a better deal.

Most people do not post their OTD prices because taxes and license fees vary widely between states. The only way to make apples to apples comparisons is using the price before TTL.

My OTD price for TLS w/Nav, spoiler, underbody kit was $35k, but about $2k of that was tax.

I paid $30,200 + tax in NJ without Nav and got the wood vents, wood steering wheel and wheel locks.

Hi TH,
If you don't mind sharing, where were the 3 Acura Dealers you visited?

I'm shopping in a big way and would appreciate any input.

Thanks.

You should be able to get a TL-S w/navi for $31k before any fees or tax.

I work for GE Plastics Automotive and my last employer was RL Polk (The VIN inventors/curators). I'm not saying I'm the greatest car dealmaker in the world, but between talking to my Honda/Acura Platform Manager and some of my ex-co-workers who have access to the Polk VIN d-base, I can tell you that in general inventory levels for TLs (regular and Type-S) are at their lowest levels for June then they have been in 2001 (dealerships are hovering around 7-20 days of cars). Knowing that, I would either shoot for $1,000-$1,250 under MSRP and sell the dealer on the fact that they are making 5-7% profit on top of invoice.

Right now anything under sticker is a tough putt, but if you are a repeat Acura/Honda buyer you can get below MSRP with a good faxing strategy. I got my Type-S no navi in SE Michigan (where inventory sucks b/c of the Big Three) for $30,500 (incl. destination) and right now I consider that a decent deal. Two months ago, I had 3 dealerships that were jumping at $29,500, but that's nature of the car business, sales rates and inventory. Good luck.

I paid $30,600 back in April for my "S" Non-Navi. I thought that was fair and bought from the dealership that I had leased my previous TL from. (Hey, the salesman have got to eat too!). They threw in the wheel locks and the mud guards. Was happy with the deal and didn't fax around to other dealerships. I probably could have got another $200 of or so but wanted to stay with my local dealer. Whenever I need service, I have a loaner car available to me and also get free oil changes. That means more than saving $200 bucks or so. Hope you get the deal you want.

No way you'd get that OTD price. Possibly before tax.

uh, the invoice price is $30,400 for the tl-s with navi (destination included). californians pay 8% sales tax plus other fees which can be approximated to be about 10-11%. so if you bought the car for invoice, out the door price would be $33,440. your basically saying that you want to buy a tl-s for the invoice price of a tl-p/navi or base tl-s !!! unfortunately, you won't be paying invoice exactly...lowest has been around $800 over while i paid $1000 over invoice.

good luck though!

Talking

I was able to apply a modified FAX attack by sending a formatted email (email addresses found at Acura.com), with only my return email and name, separately to all the dealers in DFW--making it as "blind" as the FAX concept. I sent the note out Thursday at Noon, and had reached a deal by noon Friday...without talking to a soul.

I was able to get to a price of $31,500+ttl for a WDP 2002 TL Type S w/Nav with only one additional pass. Lowest first offer was $32,000, but I gave the dealer located closest to my home the option to beat/match that price and he chose to match it. I then emailed the low-bid dealer back and asked him if he had anything to make me want to go to his dealership and he dropped to $31,500. Grand total of effort, 4 first pass emails (all the same text except addressee), 2 follow up emails, and the deal was done. I could have dug for a lower price, and did attempt a little haggling at the dealer, but I felt I was getting a good enough price to let them off the hook on some things. Also, I hate negotiating face-to-face as I fold too easily.

Thanks to whomever it was on this board who first posted this concept. It saved me a bunch of gray hairs and a bunch of time being able to arrive at the dealer with a set price. All that was left was to give the car a once over and signing the paperwork.

Okay, what do I add next??

OTD - 34,000 even for me

Out the door (OTD) price also include sales tax, document fees and DMV fees). So it will vary depending where you live.

I got a TL-S/Nav, wheel lock, mud guard, trunk tray for 34,000 even. This includes 7.5% sales tax, 450 Lic. fee, and some doc. handling fees. I don't have paper with me; excluding those fees, I believe price was $31,150.00.

In Nor cal through a car broker, my WDP/Parchment was 34191. Including 7% tax, 450 lic, 48 doc. The base price w/ wheel locks, nav & mud guards was 31,480.

Great Price in Atlanta for TL-S

I purchased a TL-S non/Nav in Atlanta on June 30 for $30,300. I had been prepared to drive out of state.

This price included rear spoiler ($600), wheel locks ($30), mud gurards ($50), trunk tray ($40), documentation fee ($289) and destination fee. Dealer offered an interest rate of 6.5% for 60 months.

If you deduct all the options that I added plus the doc fee, then the cost of the vehcile was $29,300. One of the best prices that I have seen, especially in Atlanta. Ed Voyles, who I had previously dealt with on another vehicle would not touch the deal.

Deal was with Angela Garland (Internet Salesperson) at Nally Acura. Easy to deal with, no B.S. and no pressure. Would highly recommend anyone interested in a TL-S in Atlanta giving her a call or sending here an e-mail at angelagarland@nalleycars.com.

If this price is before taxes, etc.... you shouldn't have a problem. If it's OTD.... no way in hell for the TL-S, slight chance for the CL-S. If you could find a TL-S at invoice and your tax % is around 6%, that's already around $30,350, and that's not including destination, license fees, etc. Also, don't count on finding one at invoice. You also have to remeber that the 2002 CL is due out in Sept./Oct., so the 2001 CL-S price will be dropping. You won't get one for under $30k, but you may get it for a little over. If you can find one (CL-S) at invoice and have about a 6% sales tax, you can realisticly get out the door for around $30,200 or so including all dealer fees, etc.....

Thumbs down Never OTD for that little

$29,600, 1 month ago, no navi, no nothing - about 30,600 OTD, and that's only because Delaware has a very low tax, but I did buy in NJ, but avoided that high tax due to living in Delaware.

Don't forget to haggle them for a better interest rate - I found some give in there too, and they always quote higher % than is best available.

What's with photopoint? Who's everyone switching there sig pics post to that doesn't cost $???

Your best bet for a low price is still SoCal. I bought my car 5/12, Type-S, no Nav, with wheelocks/mudflaps for 29,700 (including destination) before TTL. OTD was somewhere in the 33k range. The invoice for a Type-S no nav is 28,650 I think (check Edmunds) so here in SoCal the 29k range is good. I've heard people of getting bone stock TL-S for 29,300. I don't know the current inventory status but right before I bought mine there was a recall so there were very few cars on the lot. Right now dealers are getting shippments but they're selling pretty quick...

I bought my TL-S yesterday. I paid $29,600 with wheel locks and mud guards for a non-nav. I am leasing the car so I am not sure what the out the price would be if I would have bought out right, I guess it would have been about $32,000.00 with tax and license

First just want to say what's up to all the other TLS owners out there, especially in GA.

I just wanted to re-affirm what dj5 said about buying a TLS from Nally Acura in Atlanta GA. I just bought my satin silver TLS from them 3 weeks ago. It was the best car buying experience I ever had. Angela Garland is truely awesome. I got mine for $29,250 w/o navi ( sorry dj5 beat ya by $50 bucks). Anyone thinking of getting one, that lives in the Atlanta area, should definately start with Angela and Nalley acura.

Feel free to email me with any ?ions

I love my TLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello,

I bought a silver TL-S with Navi at Mike Harvey Acura (Bulingame,
CA) for $31130 (with wheel locks). Out the door price
(8% tax, lic, doc and ca tire fee) is $34124. 2 days after
I bought the TL-S, Oakland Acura called that they have
a silver arrived and is for $31000 -- bummer!!

Anyway, I did hear a lot of folks down in Southern
California got a price of $31000 or lower for TL-S with
Navi..

TL-S is a great car and I like it alot. It has much better
feel that my 98 Accord EX-V6 coupe although they both
are built on the same platform.

Wow, seeing that makes me feel better. I got mine, same setup as you for $32050 OTD (car was $30k with dest.). For southern NY, I think that's a good deal. A buddy of mine got the same exact car (no mudflaps) for $1400 more at a different dealer!!

This is a copy of my post @ Edmunds. Thought you all might find it interesting:
________________________

I just bought a non-NAV TL-S and thought I would share my experience.

I noted that a number of posters here and at the acura-tl.com site had gotten deals for $29,500. That is about $900 over invoice. There is a 3% hold back, so the dealer is really getting ~$1,800 in profit. That will work for most dealers, and does not include other dealer incentives, etc. It was the “end of the month” which is the only time to buy a car, if you want a deal.

I was looking for a Dark Emerald Pearl, because I had to have the parchment interior and I did not want black or white. I really like the ABP, but the black interior does not work for me. So, I checked around, and found that the DEP is the only Type S NOT generally available in the Metro DC area, at this time. So, I expected this to be a little more interesting than I had wanted.

I do not like sitting in a dealership negotiating a car. I do not like the process, so I launched a fax attack on the dealers in Northern VA and Baltimore-Washington area. I used the form letter published by brentwoodvolvo (modified, of course!) [ let me know if anyone would like a copy, or I can post it- quaz] I had 2 responses out of 6 faxes. One was from Acura West with a $30,500 counter the other was from Radley Acura in Falls Church for $29,500! Chris LaPorte of Radley (703-725-4616) called me and accepted the offer. He did not have it in stock, and was smart enough to tell me that no one else in the area had a new DEP in stock (there were demos and DEP’s on order.) It was end of the month, so he wanted to close the deal (without $ exchanging hands, other than a $1000 deposit) and be able to claim the deal in June. He also offered a better discount for one in stock (any other color!) He was great, very easy to deal with. I can recommend him highly.

The deal went down @ $29,500 w/wheel locks included. I paid the $189 “sell you a car fee” that Virginia car dealers are allowed to charge, as I just did not want to mess with so small a number out of a $29,500 deal. I could have haggled, but what the heck! That made the profit for the dealer a nice round $2k, which is OK.

Also, I talked to a salesman over at Rosenthal over the phone (2 actually), but the best they would do without a long hassle was $30,300. One sales man was a referral from this board and the other a salesman I dealt with before (Mort.) Mort did not call me back until it was too late, and the other salesman came up with the $30,300 offer.

I did not fax Pohanka, as I was dealing with a salesman there (test drive, info, etc.) and I let him know that I was going to do the deal at $29,500. He stalled, and wanted to do the “let’s tango at the dealer” dance. He did not have the car in stock, and wanted to sell a car at the end of the month. So, he messed around, and I faxed and won.

I take delivery on July 9. I’ll let you all know if there are any problems. But at this point, this is the most painless car buying experience I have ever had!

Southern California

I'm out in Southern California along with StanMan and bioyuki. We all got comparable deals. My price was $29,629...$1,000 over invoice for TL-S w/o navi which is certainly reasonable for a high demand, recently introduced vehicle. I actually went right to Sam, the fleet manager at Acura 101 West in Calabasas and got my deal.

I liked them enough to let them sell me chrome wheels for $795 (I could have had them done for half that at a local shop) and $255 for tinted windows (probably overpaid $100 bucks versus a local tint shop).

My total OTD price was $33,630. A great value for a great car.
