Lightbulb Our HIDs Rule!!

Last night driving home, I was in front of a fellow TL owner and noticed how nice they really looked. There was a Bimmer also behind me and I noticed that its lights were small, and didn't output as much as our cars. Also, we have a nice purplish color that is pretty distinctive and I like alot. I can spot an Acura TL/CL/RL from a long distance away.

I dunno, maybe I'm biased.

The BMW an Audi's seem like they are bright but don't really provide enough road coverage in my opinion.

The Lexus HIDs are also excellent. I think they are the perfect shade of blue and brightness for headlights. esp the GS4

I don't know how they compare from the outside view, but the '02 TL-S HID's don't compare to the output of my X5's Xenons.

I test drove the TL-S tonight and it reminded me how I feel when I would drive a non HID car after driving my TL, I had to make sure the lights were on. Not to down the TL, because I still like them but the lighting doesn't compare.

X5 is higher off the ground, possibly a reason why you get more illumination.

Those X5's may do wonders illuminating the road for you, but I take it you have never had the unfortunate experience of driving your car and having an X5 behind you at night. I have several times at night in my car, and they are by far the worst HIDS out there in regards to blinding other drivers. That good vision is coming at the expense to others on the road, and some may say that its just due to the height of the vehicle, but its not just that; other SUVs out there with HIDs dont seem to have the same problem.

Actually I have. I was in my girlfriends '00 Land Cruiser while she was behind me in the X5. I didn't notice any unusual lighting discomfort. If I'm not mistaken someone posted early from the outside BMW Xenons were small and didn't appear to put out as much light as the TL. Is the light too bright or not bright enough which is it.

Of course you won't notice anything in a land cruiser. Try sitting in a sedan and see if you can say the same thing.

They are blinding especially when they hit bumps. Its annoying but I like the way they sparkle and change colors. Audis, bimmers, and Escalades all do it.

That was me who said that BMW lights were smaller. I was referring the car I saw, it was definately a 3 series.

Some new 5 series seem bigger and brighter.

I agree with you, the X5 HID are nice and bright.

When one those freaking Ford SUV's came up behind with those HIDs it was like GOD was shining this gigantic flashlight in my car, I even found my sunglassses because it was so bright! I think anything that has headlights higher than the trunk height of a normal sedan should be restricted to halogens!

SUV's and SAV's and other taller vehicles should not be allowed to have HID's that sit over the DOT 24" line for headlights. Its vicious trying to drive a smaller car in front of such a vehicle. You think its bad seeing it form the TL, try the S2000 with the top down, heck, I could get a tan at night like that!

Good thing we have auto-dim rear view. Helps alittle. Wish that option was available on the side mirror too. I don't want to have to tint the mirror or front windows..

there was this one night, a big truck or SUV was behind me blinding me with the headlights since it's so high off groud, so I just adjust the rearview to reflect the light back to the driver, and the driver couldn't stand if so he turned off the lights, that was funny and pretty interesting.

So what happened? I have the new PIAA 001 Solitaire Plasma Blue also. But I live in NJ. I thought all PIAA lights were DOT approved. This is funny because when I went to get my TL inspected, the inspector asked me if my HID were aftermarket lights. I laughed in her face. I told her that it was stock. She walked away feeling stupid.

Black Shadow agrees with me about the TL-S HID's no putting out as much light as the TL read his post in "I was plesantly suprised".

When a fellow driving a truck persistently sticks to my cars backside with those blinding lights, I switch off the auto-dimming feature and angle the rear-view mirror so that the light reflects back.....every single time they back off....

Trucks with their lights much higher off the ground are blinding to every other vehicle on the road (except maybe other trucks)....trucks (SUVs) with HIDs are the worst nightmare of sedan or sportscar drivers.
