our HIDs

I was driving home the other night and there was a BMW 5-series next to me with HID headlights. His HIDs were lighting up the road much better than mine.

that's probably because it has Projector (D2S) HID's....while we have the Reflector type (D2R)

this is correct if speaking in actual measurements, but with the 6000k bulbs you will see so much more of the beam and it will look much brighter, unlike the regular 4.3kK bulbs where a lot of the light blends into the darkness. the amount of lumens lost is also only several %, so it's barely noticable anyway.

don't worry because it won't be like going back to halogens or anything.

No our are HIDs and Xenon and HIDs are different

I am not arguing about the project, as a matter of fact I agree that it might the the projector's problem.

Ok, first thing first... Xenon = HID, HID = Xenon(at least for automotive uses anyway)...

Secondly, correct me if I am wrong, but isn't 4300K applies to D2S only??? D2R is a bit lower than that(less bluish)??

The light beams from the HID on '99-'01 TL are more concentrated while light beams from '02 are broader(more light to the side)

As for S2K HID being bright.... yes, they are bright, but also blinds....Honda should have put Auto-Leveling in S2K as well....

that's true...if you're talking about the halogen lights that piaa and other companies put out and label "xenon".

otherwise you should start looking up some info and you'll realize they are the same. what are called HIDs are actually Xenon HIDs, except the 'xenon' part is assumed.

When I got my TL in 2000, I thought Acura's xenon lights were the greatest thing since sliced bread until I drove my new Audi.

The reason being that BMW, Audi and even the S2K use projection type xenon lights as opposed to reflector type Acura uses. Also, I thought I got a lot of people flashing me my TL, not one night drive goes by now w/o getting flashed, but I am street legal, including auto leveling.

Here is a pic of my Audi lights which seem to glisten a lot more that my Acura's did.

You sure you didn't use a star filter to enhance that "glisten"?
