Question options? Transmission Temperature sensor needs to be replaced...

Hey guys...thanks for a great forums...I've been lurking around here for a while.

Here's my short story...I am the third owner of this previously acura certified vehicle with 58,XXX miles.

went to McGrath Acura in IL, with my D5 light blinking. I was thinking, "transmission needs to get replaced". I got my loaner and was hoping to feel a performance increase in my TL. However they called today and said the problem was not my transmission, but the transmission temperature sensor. This is not covered under warranty and will cost ~$100 for the part, and ~$130 for labor.

Is this a decent price? How much have you guys paid?

Have any of you changed this yourself? Is this something easy, or complex...I did a search, but could not find any relavent info....

thanks ahead of time...

Get your tranny checked by another dealer before commiting to McGrath! Also, I found that their prices were not always competetive even with other dealers. However, that was couple of years ago before they moved.

thks for the advice...McGrath is def the most expensive in the area...$128/hr versus $100/hr for other places. McGrath also was going to charge me $100 for the part when all the other dealerships tell me $61.

I'm off to woodfield on tues to get this done. Should take about an hour.

This better turn off my blinking D5 light, otherwise I will be at McGrath.

sorry for the delayed responce. you still looking at replacing it? it is easy you take off the drivers side wheel, then with a jack support the engine and remove teh small engine mount. then there are 3 bolts (1 secures teh sensor 2 secures the wire harness) unplug and pull the sensor out!

thanks man...looks easy, except the 'supporting the engine' -

i wasn't sure what part to look for; cause I couldn't find it online, so i'm off to woodfield acura, as per suggestions from the chi-town people on this forums-

thanks for all the help
