Optima batteries - no longer at Costco, have questions...

Yo guys, I just got back from Costco and there were no Optima batteries on the shelf, and their cross reference booklet was there either, I guess they pulled em'. SO....what is the second cheapest place where I can pick one up? OR....does anyone have any experience with the Kirkland Costco brand batteries?? I mean the thing is only 40 bucks and if it lasts 3 years, then its totally worth it...AND does anyone know who makes those things for them? Thanks!!!

I love the Costco batteries. They work great. Costco has an excellent return policy on their batteries. They uphold their 3 year free replacement and 100 month pro-ration policy. My Kirkland Signature Car batteries have lasted for at least 4 years at a time, I have not had one die on me yet.

I don't understand why people love the OEM batteries and love buying tires from like Discount Tire when Costco sells decent tires for about the same price if not cheaper, plus you get the Costco freebies.

I also bought a kirkland one too. I recall a consumer report doc. that stated costco't batteries rank amount the top 5. Under sears diehard and the optima. Stay away from the Autozone/Checkers, those suck

costco doesn't carry any other brands other than Michelin, Bridgestone, and the such. So selectivity is limited.

You quoted the Costco batteries, then you said stick with OEM...???

Does anyone know who makes these batteries for Costco and does anyone have a better alternative? I don't think there is any for $40...

Well guys, I dug around the net and come to find out, the Costco Kirkland Signature series batteries that Costco sells exclusively, are made by Johnson Controls, Inc. and guess what, they are one of the largest battery manufactures in the world, AND they make both the Optima batteries AND Honda's OEM batteries....pretty funny stuff, I guess it is safe to say that the $40 Kirkland battery is definately the best deal out there period. Here's their main battery site, http://www.johnsoncontrols.com/bg/ and here's their battery selector site that lists all the brands they make....http://www.autobatteries.com/brands/index.asp

By the way guys, the batteries at Walmart are also made by Johnson Controls, I'm gonna check the price on them over the weekend, and no Costco membership needed....

K guys, went to Walmart last night and they have three versions of the Everstart batteries, one with a 1 year replacement, a 2 year replacement and a 3 year replacement, which is called Everstart Maxx. The prices are $29, $39, and $59 respectively...obviously the Costco battery is the best deal, a 3 year replacement battery for $40 bucks....hope all this info has helped!

Just another quick update, I went back to Costco today to pick up the Kirkland battery, and there they were again, Optima Batteries, just red tops though, for 104.99. So I don't know what happened that day I went last week....
