Opinioin for 105K service
I am in need of some assistance. I am about to have the 105K service done on my '03 3.2TL. The mechanic that I have chosen will allow me to buy my own parts. I have decided to go with a Gates timing belt kit, Gates water pump, Beck Arnley belt tensioner, NKG Iridium plugs, and a Gates serpentine belt. I am getting all the parts from Rockauto. Can anyone tell me if I am forgetting anything or reccommend alternatives. Any and all suggestions appreciated.

timing belt tensioner AND roller pulley, ps tensioner while you are in there and ac idler pulley as it will fail at some point if not noisy already
ck our sponsor dealers-kaleb at prestige in santa rosa ca had a 295$ package deal on what they use in the 105..it can stand a few extra parts but awesome deal anyway--more than 100 off retail
look for his threads
Nothing wrong with gates if thats your choice- but price ck against our sponsors.
make sure to identify yourself as acurazine
get the valves adjusted too --requires 2 valve cover gaskets
never a bad idea to clean the egr ports in the intake manifold- its ready by 75kmiles can diy or have your guy add it in as combo labor as some parts are already removed
and clean the IACV while the TB is off the manifold for its cleaning
ck your rad hoses for softness or soft spots--they are getting old too, and if in need of replacement-- do the thermostat while you are there
diy= seafoam the intake manifold vac port and gas tank before the service
clean internals make the car run better
do the oil cleaning method with seafoam if adjusting valves, so all the crud is removed before measuring very tight clearances

Thanks for the info. I looked at the timing belt kit being offered by kaleb, even with the NKG spark plugs and cabin filter included the price shipped to my door is a lot cheaper. I will definitely have the valves adjusted. So I will also add two valve cover gaskets. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Other than some fresh antifreeze, I think you've got it covered. As 01tl4tl said check the radiator hoses too, just in case. Those you'll most likely be able to purchase locally if you need them.

then a basic trans 3 qt drain and refill will suffice (may take a little over 3)
helps to do a 15 minute warmup drive so crud in fluid can get to the drain
ck local on plugs - most stores average $8 per,,,dealer is overpriced for same exact item

Thanks again. I had planned on getting the coolant and tranny fluid from the local Honda dealer. Actually Rockauto had the plugs for less than $7. Please keep the suggestions coming. I am definitely taking notes. Thanks.

did you read the diy on the 105 for other parts that might be good to replace now?
we already listed just about everything!
get the cam seals just for fun--rarely a leak problem, but for the few dollars to replace while the valve covers are off and the seals are right there
now is the time to install a lightweight crank pulley if you want the car to rev way faster- get to vtec quicker,,get the front main oil seal replaced as preventive
at the low price end and used by CL ziners for many years and by our megamod- Bomz brand, they make a lot of billet parts (machined from a block of aluminum)
and the upper end is the really nice, laser etched ones from Excelerate, ck his sponsored sales threads for those,,has stock diameter and a high performance one
he is the only source for the stock diameter if you are running more than 600watts stereo

Not sure if they are any easier to replace during that work but check the heater hoses too.
Thermostat housing gasket is a possibility.
Replace external transm. fluid filter .

yes, if doing the thermostat on preventive -make sure to replace its gasket
good catch on the trans external filter--one of the best things you can do for it!
heater hoses always a pain and critical failure if one blows
always ck those
Ive been out of the shop biz for so long I forget what was normal to do in a 10 minute ck of all the criticals when a car came in
suspension and steering parts good? hoses? brake fluid condition in master
brake pad and rotor condition
all brake parts lubed as needed (probably not-car washes take it away)

If it were my car--take a tool to every single nut bolt screw you can find--make sure the entire car is tight

This is my list. Have I missed anything that I will need. I know that I have to buy coolant and tranny fluid from the local dealer. Any suggestion would be welcome. Thanks.

I would go dealer/OE on the thermostat,,,the TL is very picky about that part,
have heard stories of some brands being installed upside down and causes coolant leak--
so ck for an arrow for UP
