Opening trunk with a dead battery

Is there a way to open the trunk when your battery dies? The battery in my 02 TL died because my wife left key in the RUN position. The problem is, the jumper cables are in the truck. Thanks!

Reach Though The Arm Rest In The Back Seat And I Think On The Lft Hand Side If You Are Facing The Trunk There Should Be A Child Lever. Give It A Yank And Pop It Goes.

There is a center position in the rear passenger seat, just open it and reach above and you can reach the manual release.

It is all in the manual though.

again. though you really dont even need to read the manual for that. i understand that was just an honest question, but you've been a member for over 2 years and your first post is to ask a dumb question like that? btw, doesn't your TL have a trunk release button on the driver's door? i'm sorry, you dont need to respond to this, i'm just bein an ass.

hahahaaaaa i made sure my system was strategically installed so that the convenience of my manual trunk release would still be available! (JL amp, 2 Alpine Type-S 12's, seperate boxes to keep the pass-thru, Sony 10-disc changer, AND a cop switch for that thundering bass, hehehe)

Just bumping this thread up from the sea bottom for other TL owners than may not be aware of the manual release location.

I've read through the owner's manual a couple of times and somehow missed the part about accessing mechanical release through the back seat. I suppose I would have figured it out but I'm glad that I didn't need to in a potentially frantic "dead battery" situation when I was trying to access jumper cables.

I didn't even realize that this was an issue until I disconnected my battery yesterday and went to open the trunk Every car that I've driven before with an electrical trunk release also had a mechanical key lock in the trunk lid.

Thanks for the helpful information. The forum search feature is your friend.

Angry

u guys are cruel to the poor guy... heheheheeheh neways.. just realised while i was stripping the interior that without the trunk vallet button connected (behind the glove compartment), the trunk is auto disabled.... funny thing was.. i had all the parts INSIDE THE TRUNK when this happened and i literally freaked out for a good 2 seconds when i realised the remote opens the trunk (as well as the child safety lever) ... which brings me to this point....

wat the hell is the point of the child lever being so close to the rear seats if someone can just put their hand through teh passthru and pull it.... it really defeats the purpose of the vallet function..... *sigh*..
