I had my sr intake installed last night, so I took it out for a test run this morning. Its pretty calm on Saturday mornings so I gun it to try to hear the sound that everyone talks about. I am past 5000 RPMs and here some sounds but not as loud as I had hoped. My questions are, how loud is the sound suppose to be? Also in the instructions it says to remove a resonator box but I didn't see anything after I took out the stock air box, I have a 2002. Can anyone describe to me what the resonator box looks like? One thing that I did notice was that the car did seem faster during acceleration and glide over the pavement when cruising. Thanks.

 

i dont know if it is the same on the 2002 model, but on the 2001 model the resonator is right underneath the stock air box. You are probably going to have to take off the bumber to take it out.

 

Bear in mind that your car is insulated...when you are hearing other car's passing by with them they probably have the coffeecan exhaust to add to the effect... Open your windows and you will hear it more... I noticed the sound in my Miata to be a lot louder than the SR in the TL..then I realized I'm in an open air roadster listening to the engine right there, whereas the TL, a lot more luxury, insulation from noise...

I don't know about your short ram but I can definitely hear my AEM CAI. I just love the sound when VTEC kicks in.
BTW, my resonator box was removed but I don't know about the 02.

 

wind down your windows and you'll hear it more cause the inside of the cabin is well insulated. at first i wished my cai was louder, but when you really punch it, it gets loud. not sure about the sr though
