OMG!!! I finally saw an Acura 1.6EL
I finally saw one in person the other day while I was driving on Rt 280. I thought they only have those in Canada. It looks just like a Civic but luxurious. Just wanted to share my experience.

I've never seen an EL, but I think they are the same as the Asian Tornedo in Japan and Hong Kong. But the other week I saw a Audi A3. I only thought they were offered in Europe. Just thought I'd share as well.

The EL is only offered in Canada. Maybe the driver moved to the US and had it registered here. I saw one last year with Canadian tags. It does look a lot like a luxo-Civic.

my cousin's husband in toronto has one...pretty nice inside. definitely a civic modded out to be luxurious. funny thing is, i actually respect an EL more than an actual modded civic the ricers have.

Good car. Just a higher end Civic offered only in Canada.

El = Entry-level?
Could be for someone just thinking about getting a first car. How can it not be reliable..its a Honda/Acura.

If Honda only mod the motor and suspension to differentiate from the Civic the EL could have been so much more. For the extra money the interior material in them ARE nicer than the Civic other than that its nothing really special. The EL is just a nicer Civic built just for Canadians, eh?!

The Torneo (no 'd') is actually Accord based, but it is smaller, like the Japan market Accord. It is also a little more up-scale.
WNG is correct, the EL is the Domani in Japan. People that are serious about racing in stock classes, use the EL in their Civics. They are 1.7L VTEC and I think they are DOHC. Very zippy!

My fiance and I bought an EL and TL together. I drive it occasionally and it's nice to zip around in a smaller car. There's also more rear legroom than my TL! The 2001 ELs are 1.7 rather than 1.6, since the Civic's been redesigned this year as well. the 1.6EL was the Honda Domani, but they're not exporting the 1.7 yet, so it's only available in Canada.
