Oil Cooler Installed...

Just a quick question guys.

I went to the dealership to see if my car was affected, and it was, so they said they would install the jet oil cooler.

I asked for an invoice but was told they would not give one and it would be mailed out to me by Acura Canada. It has been over a month and I still have not received anything from Acura or the dealership.

I am starting to worry they didn't actually install this kit. How would I know if they did or not?

Thanks in advance.

I got an invoice when I had the recall performed. That is what you're talking about, right?

you can look to see if they did. all you have to do is open the hood and look down to the back side of the intake tube

goto this site and register https://www.ahm-ownerlink.com/login.asp?brand=acura
then fill out all info and it will say if it was done or not but you should look too.

Its a oiljet for the tranny. It sprays tranny fluid on the 2nd gear shavt to help keep it cool and lubricated. It is the recall we have on our tranny. Not to be confused with fixing the problem that we all have. Our tranny has 2 problems of failing, this just helps solve the dangerous failure. Its free, all you have to do is bring it in to the dealer if you dont already have it. Yes they put it on after the fact. The newer rebuilts have it built in.

The do 2 completly DIfferent things. The OilJet sprays fluid on a shaft to keep the shaft lubed and cooled. A tranny cooler helps keep the Fluid cooler

What i meant was can i just take the oil jet thing off when I go to fill up the transmission fluid after installing the tranny cooler as per the DIY by Austin.........I am getting tripped up by this last part since it connects to the same line almost and Austin559's TL did not have not have the oil jet cooler installed

Also do you have any good links to another DIY for a different point of reference
Thanks In Advance

What are you getting triped up on? The oil jet is just a piece they added between the lines that were already there. you still conect the oiljet to the same place, the oil jet just is a "T" off from one of the lines

There are NO other DIY's (sorry) for this. look closely at teh DIY and yours and you will see.

when the dealer replaces your tranny, do they usually add on the oil jet kit too?

Yes, remove teh bolt pull straight up fill and put back in. You cant mess it up or put it in wrong.

There was NO recall on the tranny. The recall is/was for the addition of the oiljet kit. Older versions required it, newer versions have it built in (kinda like you said)
(just to clairify things)

yeah i can second that. once i sheared a 1/4" extension tool right in two trying to get that nut off, so i stepped up in size to a 1/2 inch-drive socket, extension and breaker bar. came off no problem after that.

I should have taken a pic of my finger after loosening the filler nut. Slammed it into the engine. OUCH=Be careful. The Acura mechanic must have used a torque wrench set to 200 Ft. Pounds when he refilled the Tranny fluid and retightened it. Hate that!

They should always give you a copy of the work order (at least they should) this info contains all about what they did (and didn't do) so you can hold it against them if something goes wrong. I had them up against test driving the car which they did not indicate on the WO. I ended up with new ball joints and new front-end bushings 'coz they could not prove they did test it.

As far as the tranny revision TSB, the only thing you would receive from Honda/ Acura Canada is the actual notification about the TSB and not the invoice/ work order.

I was gonna say the same thing. The work orders I got clearly said the recall was performed and the second one said the transmission was replaced under warranty because of "internal transmission failure".
