Oil Change Question
Oil Change Question
Ive never done my own oil change on the TL (ive done it before, just not on the TL-S), so... im planning to use Royal Purple Syn 5/20, do i need 4 or 5 bottles? I know its in the manual, but its one of those questions that annoy me and i need the answer fast.
*plus the fact that i cant find my tl manual inside the house*
THANKS!

4.7 qts with the filter, its ok to put in 5
If switching to big $$$ oil I would run some seafoam thru the crankcase to flush it good first
Read down thru the gen 2 threads and see Seafoamed the ol TL for full 10 pages of info
I like the K&N oil filter, others like Mobil 1 filter

OE filter suck
The advice of the knowledgeable members of this board is Mobil 1 filter or K&N
both 10 bucks- almost the same part- different O ring seal and outer case, slightly different inside- but the best at catching dirt
And we all use the Seafoam - or need to

Disclaimer: "just my two cents"
Unless you drive your car really hard -- i.e., roadracing or extreme stop and go driving -- I couldn't justify spending the extra $$ on Royal Purple. I agree with the others about K&N filters for both air and oil.

order some amsoil oil and an amsoil ea filter. best oil and filters out there, but expensive. oil change intervals are the longest as well. they claim 25k or 1 year, but I would change at around 15k. seafoam is great in the crankcase. pour 1/2 can in the crankcase before you change your oil and drive for 500 miles, then change your oil. your car will love you, use the other half of the seafoam and turn your car on and wait until it's warmed up and slowly pour the 1/2 can into you pcv valve vacuum line so it sucks it into your IM.
