I haven't hit my first old change yet for my 2003 TLS. It says wait till 7500 for the first oil change... is that right?

If you live in hot climate or stop and go alots then 3750 miles per oil change is recommended. This is my schedule for oil change and it won't cost that much compare to wait until 7.5k I rather have a better car than save $60 bucks per year. Same for gas!

We must assume the engineers at Honda know what they are talking about. The folks who say change the oil and filter every 3k miles are mostly selling oil and filters. Honda says about 3750 miles for hard usage and 7500 for normal usage. I figure mine is 50/50 so I change every 5-6k miles. A few years ago Consumer Reports reported a long-term test on NYC cabs which are almost the definition of hard usage. They concluded that changing oil even every 7-8k miles is probably more than necessary.

I would do 3,750 miles if I used DINO oil. But if I use synthetics, I'd go the full 7,500.
I am thinking the same thing, I don't race much and 50/50 between local and highway. I guess I am too uptight about sticking to 3000 interval. I am going to starting following 3750-4000 with full synth oil.

i change it every 3000 miles......car runs better...so you spend an extra $60-$100 a year...big deal....just my 2 cents

When Mobil 1 first came out it was advertised as lasting for 25,000 miles. See my post under topic 'Amsoil Extended Drain Interval' . Amsoil warrantees their synthetic 5w-30 oil for 25,000 miles or one year.
Also read the excellent article from 'Lubes N Greases Magazine'
reprinted at syntheticwarehouse.com which discusses the silliness of 3,000 mile oil changes ( the same companies which
recommend 3,000 mile oil changes in the U.S.A. agree with 10,000 mile oil change standards in Europe.). I used Mobil1 in my '89 Prelude changing it every 15,000 miles. That car is still going strong at 187,000 miles.

I get mine changed between 3,750 & 4,300 miles.
I get Dealer Service so it depend on what service interval is comming up. Each service interval always has an oil change no matter what. I go by time that I have had the car for service intervals not mileage. My next oil change is due in a few hundred miles I will get it before I go on an 800 mile road trip.
The Taxi Cab test did not fly with me because this is not how most people drive. The Taxi is generally running its engine all day & is driven for a distance on its pickups. The oil gets circulating in the Taxi Cab. The average driver or some of us that don't have long cummutes everyday turn on the car drives 30mins to an hour & the car is turned off & sits. Then that person may repeat that same cycle 8hours later. Others such as myself the first 7 months with my TL only used it to drive less then 5 miles with some extended idling & the car was turned off. This is considered the SEVERE DRIVING that ACURA is talking about. This is why the Taxi Cab test did not fly because the average person does not drive like that.

3,000 is overkill. I have Mobil1 and I do it 2x a year or 7,500 miles
