OEM spoiler issues

when i bought my car it had no spoiler, went to my bodyshop order a used one, and now i have a spoiler. few months after i got it the right side (looking from the back) started becoming loose and coming off. back to the bodyshop, bondo took care of it. few days ago went to open the trunk noticed it was coming off again. looked closer and saw the screws were stuck in the trunk but no longer attached to the spoiler.

now i know someones gonna say "dont open up the trunk from the spoiler and you wont have a problem" but i dont pick it up from there. does anyone else have this type of problem and if so any solutions?

It sounds like they overtightened the nuts and stripped the insert for the studs on the spoiler. There's really not much you can do because the area where the inserts are placed is now damaged. You'll probably be better off finding a replacement spoiler. The bright side is that since the trunk is already drilled, you can install the spoiler yourself and avoid having some idiot over tighten the nuts.

Sounds like the "used" one was bad or the shop that put it on overtightened it. Id bring it back and see if you can get them to replace it or repair it properly

it couldnt be that they stripped it cause after the fixed it the first time, i put it back on myself and made sure not to over tighten the screws due to that happening. as for the tape tried that too, still doesnt stick

Due to what happening? What do you mean tape won't work?

Make sure you don't use that cheap foam crap. You have to use 3M Body Moulding tape. It's very strong and should hold the spoiler very well. It should look something like the pic below.

that might be why it broke. there is a lot of pressure that i dont think bondo around an insert would hold up against.

Very strong stuff. Same stuff can be used to attach car emblems like the Acura symbol or letters.
