Odor from Vents

My 2000 TL-P often makes a smell like burning oil or rubber from the climate control vents when the car isn't moving. It doesn't do it on Recirculating, so the source must be in the engine compartment. I plan to take it to the dealer, but any ideas in the meantime?

Thanks for ant suggestions!

i've smelled it too on my car. I think the smell comes from the brakes. For some reason when i walk around the car looking for the source, it seems to be from the rear set, which actually takes only 20-30% of the braking force. The fronts do most of the work. I have stock pads/brakes.

Best thing to do is to get out of the car and sniff around.
