Odd factory CD player

I just bought a 99 TL 3.2 no navi. and was just trying to play cds in the stock deck. it takes a long time to play one track about avg. 40secs. the thing sounds like its always spinning but can read anything. I think the deck may be whacked. Since I'm new to the TL, besides getting a replacement deck, are there any remedies to this problem? oh yeah I'm playing burned cds, dont know if that makes a difference. by the way how fast does the stock deck play cds anyhows? just curious. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

there is no real remedy. the stock deck HATE burned cd's. the best options are get a 03 TL 6 disc indash headunit, a aftermarket HU, or a CD changer. teh 03 headunit is plug and play and every thing (steering wheel controls ) work with it

oh and welcome to the forum

ur lucky my 99 tl just doesn't play any cd's except the radio shack cleaning one but that is some crap music. I fixed it by buying a 30gb ipod photo and the blitzsafe aux adapter hooked it up and works great no more waiting. I figured the 03 headunit cost about 200-225 on ebay and the ipod cost 350 but no more burning cd's ever.

You may want to invest some money to get a 2002-2003 TL HU with a built in 6 disc changer. No adaptors or any other such wiring, just plug it in. The CL HU are not compatable with the TL. I think you can find a 02-03 HU for about $150-$225 on ebay or in the black market. I have a 2000 TL with a 2002 HU and it works great, plays all my burnt CDs.

in such threads, i always suggest the same, if you are into music, and you are always listening to something when driving.....in other words you enjoy good quality music...get something that will play at high quality level. Invest in an aftermarket HU. Your car will sound 10 times bettah, especially if u change yer speakers or at least get a nice sub going in the trunk. And with todays HU, you will be play anything, CD-Rs, Mp3z, XM, DVD, u name it.
