Question OBX vs. Comptech Headers

Hey I need some advice. I know a lot of you TLers have installed Obx headers and they seemed to have worked well. How do they compare to the comptechs in terms of producing more hp. And whats the price you paid for them? Also if you could recommend any good sites that sells them that would be great! I read in some of the posts that there was a obx header sale online a while back? Lastly does it affect our warranties??
Thanks

I'd love to know the answer to these questions too. I'm wanting to perfrom my first performance mod, and I think it should be headers. Just don't know which one is most effective; Comptech vs. OBX.

As much imput on this would be most helpful!

You should use a search but to sum it all up the majority of opinions go as such:

- Comptech better quality (fitment, no flaking - only a ceramic coated issue on OBX, better quality steel, etc). There seems to be a slight resonance issue at about 2500-2800 rpms for the OBXs (I'll know more once I install mine). Other than that no real issues with the OBXs (time will tell though)

- OBX and Comptech perform just about the same give or take a couple hp. The design is the same so the gains should be about the same. Only one OBX dyno thus far but on a very modded CLS.

- OBXs are a good deal at 400 a set, but have not been out long enough to make a judgement in regards to durability. Comptechs are proven but pricey.

I see the advantage of Comptechs as quality and your dealer can even do the install and will warranty the work...
I have seen each brand on several cars in Florida. I haven't seen flaking on the OBX's, but there was some resonance in their cars and they all advised the fittament issues were certainly there...Performance wise? Dunno if there is really much difference...
I got Comptech and am happy. I paid $1100 at the dealer and they installed them...

Good luck!

r10apple- awesome- so you like the comptechs huh? Can you feel the hp gains? and how much was the installed- $1100 with the labor? Will they do intake and exhaust too? Is that covered? Thanks for the help!

I get the feeling that I'd "get what I pay for" when it comes
to the C-tech headers vs. OBX headers.

I like the OBX price, but feel like I'd have more confidence
in the C-tech because it's worth more. Then again, maybe
it's suckers like me who help C-tech "cash in".

Victor...maybe. If I had the money at the time I would have bought the CTs, but for 400 bucks I'm willing to gamble on the OBXs.

Nope, labor was extra...My dealer charges $45/hr for Comptech parts install--I guess 'ciz they know they are screwing you on the price for them to begin with...They warranty everything Comptech and install it all...I got got the Comptech springs and headers with install for $2045.17 at the dealer...Works great, no issues at all with the install...
The gain in the header feels strong after 4000 rpms but not really before...the sound differential was negligible...
I could tell more messing around with my friends in their cars. The car pulled on them much easier than before and enabled me to keep up with my friend's WRX--especially at speed.

Happy hunting!
