Are you serious?

If I am not within 195-205 at half tank, I worry something is wrong. Usually refill at 350-375. Light comes on around 395. I have never averaged less than 26mpg.

Gas mileage is a very popular subject around here, if you do a search you'll find about 800 replies with gas mileage.

The 02 sensor could be going out, but I have a feeling it is just the heavy traffic. Are you using SS or do you drive with it mainly in D5? I know that doing 100% city driving, esp. with the car in SS mode, I won't get better than 250 - 275 miles to a tank.

Most are not about gas mileage, they're about the meaningless 'miles per tank'.

I wouldn't say its normal to get only 200 to a tank unless you drive hard. How many gallons do you need when you fill the car up? If you are getting 200 miles to 8 or 9 gallons, it wouldn't be so bad. If it was 200 miles to 13 or so gallons, that sucks. I get around 350 to 12.5 gallons, around 26 to 28 mpg. I do mostly highway/backroads driving though.

here is another thing to look at. is the gas you are using contain ethanol? if so that could/is the reason to lower mileage. its supposed to be cleaner burning but it will make mileage suffer

The gas from Exxon use 10% ethanol and I get about 18-20 mpg, about 225 to 250 miles per tank.

yup. i work in all city areas around here, NYC, LI, jersey city, and newark. im on highway for about 20% which is just the commuting, but because of work related stuff, mostly stop and go city driving. you cant really hit vtec in ny, thats just crazy. you gotta watch for potholes, double parked mofo's that swing doors wide open, taxis, and other stuff.. i get approx. 200-230 per fill-up. i fill it up everytime it hits the quarter tank line.. so about 12 gallons, i get between 200-230miles. which is not that great.. that meants im getting under 20mpg.

I usually do 80% city/20% hwy and get 18-20 mpg. Lately, I've been doing almost all city and getting like 16 mpg. I use the 93 at Exxon with the ethanol. I drive between LI and Queens.

- Haven't added any Cheveron Techron in a while (I'm a believer)
- Due for an oil change.
- Installed the Icebox in June of '04 and hasn't been touched/cleaned yet (no idea what is lurking in there)
- Tires are at 35 psi all around (stock tires).
- Also been using a lot of the defroster with the horrid weather we've had this winter (kicks on compressor, more gas).

since my tranny and pcm replacement, i have gained some mileage.

overall, i get about 250-270 to a tank unless I sit on E and then I can push almost 300miles to a tank.

Its about 2.25 or so a gallon over here in Connecituct.

You guys are have some seriously bad gas locally or have some serious problems with your TLs if you can't even get 300 miles per tank........either that or I'm getting 400 because the factory slipped in a hybrid motor and i just didn't realize it yet. My 400 is @ 80-100moh daily like I said....you guys must be driving your cars around w/ the tach and speedometer pinned @ 140.

I've been filling up at Sunoco with 92 Octane and I'm getting 15 to 17 mpg. I take the BQE everyday to work so basically rush hour traffic back and forth. I hit Vtec approx 60 to 70% of the time I drive. I would say 80 to 90% city driving. I recently went to the Poconos and got 18.52 mpg. That's about 45% highway!

I know the BQE rather well Heather.......I'm from Queens and worked off the Belt in Sheepshead Bay a few years back. I hear what you're saying about sitting in stop and go traffic and doind mostly city driving......but my highway driving is like I said between 80-100mph daily for a 40-60 minute commute in the a.m. and then again in the evening. Your mpg seems quite low....have you had your TL serviced? Do you get oil changes regularly? Is it runnning smoothly, any problems other than the obvious gas over-consumption?

Fiveoh-tl, 80 to 100 mph for 40 to 60min highway with no traffic will give you about 350 mpg I would think. My commutes are usually short like 10 to 13 miles. Again, I rip it alot and use sport shift 90% of the time. I'm also from Queens. I'm riding my stock rims too. It takes me about 50 to 80 minutes to go from BK to Queens or vise versa which is only 13 miles. I think it's okay cause coming back from Poconos without traffic gave me 18-19 mpg at about 40 to 45% highway. Coming back from the Poconos I was hitting 90 to 110 mph. Than on the FDR I was hitting 5000 to 5500 rpms on sport shift. I don't think anything is really wrong with my car, maybe if I change my o2's maybe will get a bit more mpg. I change my oil @ around 6,000 miles and I changed my spark plugs.

If I drive 90% I can get about like you said 400 to 450 highway.... I ALMOST made it from Brooklyn, NY to Torono, ON, Canada with 1 tank which is just a little over 500 miles. It is just the city driving, it isnt the car.
