NY Alarm Installation Prices .. Is this fair?

I was given a couple of packages from a good reputable Alarm Dealer in Long Island, NY and I was considering one of these packages. Can someone tell me if these are good prices?

Option 1: $475

Viper 791xv LCD Pager Alarm w/ Remote Start
-Installation Labor
-Backup Battery Siren
-Glass Breakage Sensor
-Pin Switches Hood (HID Theft)
-Pin Switches Trunk (System in Trunk)

Option 2: $550

Clifford Matrix 3.5 LCD Pager Alarm w/ Remote Start
-Installation Labor
-Backup Battery Siren
-Glass Breakage Sensor
-Pin Switches Hood (HID Theft)
-Pin Switches Trunk (System in Trunk)

And for an extra $75 he said, I can get the auto roll up on windows which I might do. I'm still deciding between the Clifford and Matrix, if any suggestions please advise.

If anyone else is interested in getting it done, I'll give you the details, but someone please tell me if the Cliffford is worth the extra loot!

i got the clifford matrix. i like it. key work LIKE not love. the range isnt as far as i would have hoped. but its fine. i think the price is decent. i got mine for like 400 (2.5x) installed w/o all the sensors. so 475 for the sensors and backup aint half bad

My two cents

There is no difference between the clifford and the viper. I am a DEI dealer and I will tell you the truth about this whole situation. First of all, the price you are getting is very good, however, with a price that good, they are probably doing a half ass job installing it. Ask the company if they solder their wires and hide the unit and the wires. If you can look under your dash and see wires dangling everywhere from an alarm installation, you just got took for $500.00. No matter how good an alarm is, the installation is what makes or breaks it. DEI does make the best alarms in the world, but they can only be as effective as the installer who installs it. One more thing about the window modules. Does the installer realize he has to go to EACH DOOR to make all your windows go up? I don't think so because he is only charging you 75 to do the job. Ask the company that you are dealing with to look under the dash of one of the vehicles they have already installed an alarm in. Workmanship is very important because it will let you know whether or not you will be in there just once (the install) or many times (improper installation, not using solder, not tuning sensors properly). If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

I just got my Viper 791XV installed a few days ago. Got the backup battery, key immobilizer (needed for autostart), blue LED, hood pin, and trunk pin all done for $390! I thought that was a pretty good price. I just went with the Viper because I heard the only difference between the Matrix is the remote. Plus I like the remote for the Viper because it matches the color of my car (ABP).

im liking the clifford 3.5, i like the remote.

Laffinitup, when the car is armed, is there any LED or warning that lets others know that the car is armed and protected (does anything like that come with the DEI alarms)?

LED question

Yes, it does come with a LED. I got pretty fancy with mine. I removed the factory LED and replaced it with a blue one, than I wired it to my Clifford Matrix 3.5. Oh yeah, don't forget that your car will need a bypass module if you are having a remote start installed. Use the 555H by DEI that way you don't have to sacrifice a spare key. Ciao!

Well as far as the installation is concerned, I guess, someone will post up their pictures after the install is done and they can see if the job done is good or not, but from what he told me after showing pictures of Arn's intallation, he said that it wont look anything like that. He knows his name will be tarnished by the forums if he does anythign stupid, especially for a person starting up.

I live in Queens. Do you have the exact address to this place? I wanna go check it out and have the alarm installed also.

I noticed that there're a number of us that want to get this done. Perhaps, we can meet up and go together, maybe we'll get some discount.

those prices are very fair, and pretty cheap compared to brooklyn locations. and I spoke to the guy, his installer is specialized in Hondas, and knows how do the job to perfection.

so there is no reason to be skeptical, especially when the guy's business depends on flawless work.

Im making an appointment.

REV-01 I hope your wrong pal, cuz I really want those window mods. LoL. I guess we'll keep all posted. Me, and 2 other TL's are getting it done, and so he gave us a good deal, and since he gave us a good deal, I felt like sharing it with other people, who might want to do it I suppose.

i own a car stereo store, 2 gen tl and 6 gen accord need to get window wires from each door, if the guy is charging you 75 bux installed for two front windows up and down using dei 530t, they are only making chump change from you.....if i am the installer working your car while the salesperson sold it at that price i will be pretty piss, but of course on the other end is a super good deal for you, take some pic of his wiring job so we can see if is a good deal....

i have a different policy, if I like the installer's job, he will be tipped generously.
and the window mods are for all four windows/doors.

as far as installation goes is just a bitch to run wires, but the good thing is that you will get one touch windows on all switches in both directions including passengers switch for running the wires.....

I had ppl tell me that there were issues with the one-touch feature on the DEI530Ts... like sometimes they would go all the way up for some windows or down and not other times.

Did you hear any problems like that?

may be is not adjusted correctly, there are dip switches inside the module for different type of window motors, if is not close all the way try switch the dip switch to a harder setting.

I have asked the installer if the set the correct dip switch settings from low, medium, factory to high.... and they said even at high that happens.

The place is in Long Island, Massapequa... I believe Exit 32S of SS Pkwy. If your from Brooklyn, Queens, it shouldn't be too far.. 20mts.. Bronx and NYC, it might be about 40 mts.

REV-01, do you know if the alarm can recognize the remotes as 1 and 2 so that we dont lose the seat and mirror settings function?

I can only tell what I heard from research on this stuff. Installers have told me that the DEI 555H and the 555U are the same module, the 'U' uses up a valet key and the H makes an digital copy of the key so u dont have to give up any keys. Either way, to get the remote start, you need to have one of these modules.

Now what I was told is that a select cars are having problems with the 555H because, since its a digital copy of the key, sometimes after yoru car battery has been d/c'd maybe during servicing or whatever the reason maybe, the data (Digital Copy) might be lost and hence you will lose your remote start capability. You will then have to take it back to your installer to get the module reprogrammed. Obviously not a big deal, but could be a set back if your the type of person who works on your car alot and d/c's the battery alot.

just give them the valet key, thats your best option. module can be reset when you unplug the battery, and you dont want that.

and you are getting no sensors installed at all for that price?

I told the guy when I left my deposit that I already have a remote start installed.. and he said that he would have no problem removing the old one. I had to tell him this also because my valet key is there, so he'll need that.

I would just give the valet key. How many times do you ever use the valet key anyways?

So how do we get in on this deal? Can someone post the name of the install shop and who the point of contact is?

Why isn't this posted? Wouldn't this be valuable info?
