nothing works!!! need help ASAP!!!
my dash cluster is gone all windows sunroof dont work checked fusues i cannot find out whats is wrong .. there was a system removed from the car. please if anyone has an idea of what it could be please let me know
All three things that you've listed share a common grounding point (G501) which is located beneath the radio and above the SRS (airbag) module. If possible, either peel back the center console trim on the left side of the radio and feel around for the ground that will be bolted to the dash bracketry or remove the radio and inspect (much more difficult). Have you recently had your radio worked on/replaced or has anyone been working in this area of the vehicle?
i checked all grounds near radio and they are good ... any more sugestions ? it has an aftermarket head unit in it so ill re wire that tomorrow just to double check everything. if any one has a guess feel free to try to help ... oh and the trans stays in second gear will not shif and tip-tronic dosent work nor does pulling it down into 1 ... maybe faulty installation ???
Well guess what (again!)? The sequential shift gate (manual shift) is grounded at this point as well. You said you checked but I'm sure here lies your problem. There's multiple eyelets on one ground bolt so make sure that one didn't fall down while they were removing the system. This is a common grounding point to use when installing stereos because of its convenience.
Are any of these other things working:
Cruise control
Seat heaters
Glove box light
Navigation (or clock)
Center console light
Rear cigarette lighter/accessory port
Keyless entry

There is also a huge amount of grounds bolted to the chassis behind the radio, to the right side. The installer probably tried to tap into one of these grounds while others got disconnected. Installers will never learn that the audio system must have its own independent ground line from the battery.
NO. Let's make all this real easy. Go to the cigarette lighter receptor in the back. Using a volt meter, what's the DC voltage read when putting the red lead on inside the receptacle on the center terminal and the black lead on the metal walls of the receptacle? If you don't get battery voltage, get a long wire and run it to your negative battery terminal and then touch the other end to wall of the receptacle again while the key is on, does the cluster strt working again?

The general consensus seems to be that you have a grounding problem. Everything that isn't working comes back to a common ground point and whoever did the uninstall screwed up. I'd take it back and make THEM fix it.

I know this was posted awhile ago but I had a similar problem with the dash being out and no windows working or the sunroof. It took me awhile to figure out what the problem was but eventually I figured it out. It was the drivers door multiplex that's built in to the window switches. I would bet replacing the master window switch would fix your grounding problem. But I'm not sure if that has anything to do with your shifting problem but it's a good first step
