Not bad mpg.

Took a trip down to San Diego over the weekend. I had the climate control on and traffic was moving nicely (80) on the way down. Coming home was another story. Heavy. Anyway, I got 24.7mpg which I thought was respectable. Any thoughts?

Wow... that seems kind of low. I'm not sure how many miles you were driving at highway speed, but I usually average 23.5 - 24.5 MPG on a regular basis. Last time I did a road trip (to Rhode Island) I got over 30mpg...probably closer to 32-33.

24.7 was highway and city. 215 miles total. Traffic going down was light, actually fun Probably a bit too fast :wow:

I had about 20 miles of city driving. Coming home was tough Sunday night. Anywhere from 75mph down to stop and go. So, I guess I'd consider this 24.7 a combined figure. Still seem low?

No.. if it was a mix of city and highway, plus AC, etc... that is a good figure. That means you were probably high 20's on the highway, and low to mid in the city....

No kidding - this is one thing that simply amazes me, the TL/S V6 260hp engine gets 5-7mpg more than my 190hp 4-cylinder Saab!

I did a trip to Youngstown, OH this week. I got 29.7 MPG between Raleigh and Ohio. That includes pretty much the whole state of West Virginia which is almost entirely mountains. That's with 3 people in the car and about half loaded with luggage. I usually set the cruise at close to 80 with the A/C on auto.

I usually get about 30 on any road trip, loaded or not. Best I've ever gotten was 33 mpg on a trip out west. The mileage in this car has been better than expected, to say the least.
